Good Morning!!! I'm back from my trip...did I miss anything fun? Hope not.
Anyways... my real question is...
How do you make French Toast? I love it, but when I try to make it the way my mom did, it never comes our right... just a runny gross mess, yucky!
would anyone like to share their recipe with me? Thanks!
Re: Good morning! French Toast?
I use whole wheat bread ( diabetic) but any bread works
cinnomon
eggs
Vanilla
I use a very simple recipe. The key is never to let the bread soak up to much of the liquid or you will get soggy toast. Also beat your eggs well so that chunks of yoke don't get stuck to your bread. Make sure your pan is hot enough too.. if its too cold the eggs will just start soak into your bread more!
Good Luck.. and I think I know what I am having for breakfast
Yes, please! I've always wanted to know how to make the stuffed kind!
1- 8oz pineapple cream cheese spread; 1 loaf French bread (cut into 24 pieces); 4 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 2 tablespoons butter or marg (melted)
Topping- 3 cups fresh strawberries, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons amaretto if desired (I've never added it), 1 cup fresh blueberries
Spray 13x9 inch (3 quart) glass baking dish with cooking spary. Spread about 1 tablespoon cream cheese on each of 12 bread slices. Top with remaining bread slices to make 12 sandwiches. Place sandwiches in baking dish to cover bottom of pan.
In medium bowl, beat eggs. Add milk, 1/4 cup sugar, the salt and cinnamon; beat well. Pour over sandwiches in baking dish. Let stand at room temperature 5 minutes. Turn sandwiches over. Cover; refrigerate about 8 hours or overnight.
Chop 1 cup strawberries (save the rest), In a nonmetal bowl, gently stir together chopped strawberries, 1/4 cup sugar, and amaretto. Cover and refrig for about 8 hours or overnight.
Heat oven 400F. Uncover baking dish; drizzle (I'd brush it on) sandwiches with melted butter. Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Meanwhile, slice remaining stawberries and add with blueberries to chilled strawberry mixture; mix lightly. Serve french toast with berry topping.
ENJOY!
