Eating raisins and dried cranberries?

DS is 15 1/2 months old and loves eating these. I know they are supposed to be choking hazards.  I had been cutting them in half, which is a pain.  And he stuff several in his mouth at a time.

Anyone just give them whole?

TIA!

My two have been eating Craisins for a while now and we've had no issues.  We don't cut them up.  We haven't done raisins yet...no particular reason.

DD loves dried fruit and has been eating it for several months now.  I leave raisins and cranberries whole but she also eats dried apricots and apples. I cut those into bite size pieces.  We've not had any issues with choking.

  • DD loves raisins!  I don't cut them up.
  • DD also loves raisins/craisins. I don't give them too often because I worry about sugar/ cavities. When I do give them she eats them whole. If she's in reach of them she'll shove a lot into her mouth like your son so I can only give her a few at a time. If he can handle several in his mouth I would just give them whole.

  • DS is 15 months and has been eating raisins whole, who would cut them up, they are already tiny? He has never choked nor have I heard of them being a choking hazard and they are one of his favorite snacks.

  • My mother gave DD raisens for the first time 2 weeeks after her first birthday and when she told me I kind of freaked b/c it was a choking hazard.  She said she did great with them and LOVED them.  We have been giving them to her ever since, whole, with no problems.  I am still cautious and don't walk away when she is eating them.
