Dr. Sears'

edited July 2021 in Michigan Babies
I just have to say how much I love the doctors Sears! I have The Baby Book which I've been referring to here and there. I'm most impressed with The Baby Sleep Book! OMG! Following that "plan" has been awesome! The great thing is it's not a one size fits all plan. Brielle is becoming a great sleeper thanks to this book! (Can you tell I'm excited about it? LOL)

  • Well if you want to buy the book sign up for the newsletter at www.askdrsears.com. I believe you get a discount off your purchase within so many days of signing up.

What I really like about the book is they suggest you use many techniques to help get your baby to sleep. Right now we're using rocking till sleepy and then putting her in her bed. We were using a heating pad to warm her bed but the last few nights her room has been warm so we've been skipping it. Once in bed we lay our hands on her chest and tell her "night-night" onces she's settled in bed we leave the room. For naps we've been dancing until she's sleepy then doing the hand thing. The "dance" more like a slow waltz then a fast dance. The book give you so many ideas to try. It also helps you understand how babies sleep and why they wake up. I also like how the book is soooo not into CIO. They feel it makes for a scared baby and I couldn't agree more.

Bri was a good sleeper but since we've been using some of the suggestions in the book she's becoming a great sleeper! She goes to bed at 8:30pm (or 9). She then sleeps until around 6 am!! When she wakes up at 6 I bring her to bed with me until it's time to get up just before 8 (we're alright with a small amount of co-sleeping). Each night she spends less time in our bed because she's sleeping a little longer. This morning she didn't wake up till almost 7. :o)  Once in a while she will fuss during the night but I go in and put my hand on her till she settles down. It take about 2 minutes and I honestly don't wake up fully so it's easy for me to fall back to sleep. It worth at least checking the book out from the library if you can find it!
