Stressing about what CD to go with!!!

Any help would be appreciated! I have been talkin on my local board about this alot and they recommended this board. So I have read over so many diapers and benefits and etc etc! they are all starting to blurr together,. Basically I am in need of a diaper thats cheaper but not too complicated. I like the bum genius 3.0's and curious also about prefolds because they are the cheapest the only worry would be getting it on the baby correctly also curious if you have to put anything inside of those?  I have not the first clue about cloth diapering I'd rather purchase than do diaper service me and my husband can't afford to constantly pay for anything like that. But I know that the one size diapers dont really fit that well on the newborns. Oh any advice would be helpful!!! I just want to pick one!!!

Re: Stressing about what CD to go with!!!

  • We started using BG 3.0s on DD when she was 5 weeks old.  We had a couple of pee leaks when she was laying on her side BFing, but no other problems.  She was only 9 to 10lbs when we started.  I really like my BGs.  I used Kissaluvs and prefolds (with Thirsties covers) during the first six weeks.  Actually, we still used KLOs until DD was 13 weeks old.

With the prefolds, I couldn't figure out the snappis or fancy folds, so I just tri-folded them and placed them in the Thirsties cover.  They still held in the poop and pee just fine.  The downside to the PFs is that they hold moisture and need to be changed more frequently (although when they're newborns they have to be changed frequently anyway).

  • thanks i think thats the exact way i want to go
  • We only use Prefolds (well, we have 1 BG diaper, but don't use it that much) and they work great for us.  Once you get the hang of the fold - and that doesn't take long when you're changing 10-12 diapers per day - it's really easy and so cheap.

I'd take a look at Green Mountian Diapers if you're intersted in prefolds - lots of great info and their diapers are excellent.

  • this is why the cloth diaper trial from jilliansdrawers.com is good - because every mom has her opinions and every baby is different in terms of what will fit them best.

    This.

That being said we love the OS pockets from seller cushytoosh on etsy.  Affordable and work great.  Her inserts are super absorbent too.

  • I've heard the PF's aren't that great from the Jilliansdrawers trial though.
