How long did it take you to dilate?

I am just wondering cause I am making some small small steps. At almost 34 weeks I wasn't dilated at all. At almost 35 weeks I was a fingertip dilated and now 2.5 days later I am 1 cm. My doctor said I should have no problem with going into labor on my own instead of induction. He said I could stop taking the meds next Wednesday, but that the contractions might not progress into labor??

How can I be slowly dilating when I am on Procardia(contrax meds)?

How long did it take for you to dilate to 3 or 4 cm?

    First off, congrats on making it this far...you're doing a great job and in the home stretch. ?I walked around a good 2-3cm dialated from 34w until I was induced at 37w4d. Once the dr broke my water it took me < 4 hours to get to 10cm...but this was my second delivery.

    I went from 1cm at my 38w appointment to 4cm when I arrived at the hospital when my water broke 5 days later.  After that it was about 3 hours to get to 10cm.

    i was on procardia and went from long and closed to totally funnelled out in 5 days...and then funnelled out to 6 cm in 6 hours.

    Wow, it seems as though it goes a little quicker with twins. My doctor is pretty confident I will make it to 36 weeks and then I can go off the medication. It could take a while anyways to get out of my system.

    I went from 3 to 10 in 10 minutes. My baby was ready to come out and there was nothing that was going to stop himBig Smile

    It all happened so fast I ended up having a no med birth and I really wasn't planning on that.

    My OB said that procardia will only take care of the annoying BH type contractions.  It doesn't do anything for real contractions that can cause cervical changes.  I've stopped having BH contractions since on procardia but have been in L&D twice with the real thing.  Still no cervical changes though!
