daycare

Hi ladies!  My daughter started her new daycare this week and she seems to be loving it, however the first two days dropping her off were so easy.  She went right in, no crying, nothing.  Starting yesterday, when I bend down to give her a kiss, etc and tell her bye, she starts bawling!  The teachers have said she is adjusting well however seeing her and hearing her cry as I leave is soooo hard!

Those of you with kids in daycare, is this normal?  How long does it last?  Natalie was with a private sitter before so this is a whole new routine for her!  I just feel horrible leaving her every morning!  Thanks ladies!

I have heard that is normal and may last a week or two.

  • We went throught the same thing when Adam transitioned from the infant room into the young toddler room at 12 months. We found that feeding him right away helped. But they said that he calmed down faster and faster every time. And after a month, he waltzed in there like he owned the place.
  • I used to work in a daycare before college and this was completely normal and usually the case. It seems like after a day or two they realize the routine and then it takes them awhile to get into the routine. Most kids would settle down pretty quickly, no longer then 10 minutes or so.

I'm sure it is heartbreaking to hear, hang in there!?
