XP from GP: I've miscarried.

Well, farewell for now, 1st Tri.  It was fun while it lasted.  I can't believe how hard it is to even type this, but I lost my baby.  I had a D&C today at 9w3d.  I am profoundly sad.  I've been having a very difficult time with this, hardly sleeping and crying all the time.  DH has been good, and I know he's upset, too, but I know it's not the same for him.  He didn't feel the pregnancy like I did.

Here's my sad timeline of events this week:

  • Monday: very light spotting, brown, no cramping
  • Tuesday: spotting had gotten a bit worse overnight, more brown spotting with some pink but still no cramping; saw OB in office and sent for transvaginal u/s which showed sac measuring 7w1d and contained "cystic structure" which had no hb, D&C planned for Thursday, no more spotting
  • Wednesday: had more spotting in early day, went for pre-op testing, came home and started to have mild cramping and dark red blood, had a few rough cramps during night but both cramping and bleeding became intermittent
  • Thursday: had D&C this morning, needed to be sedated once on OR table because I was hysterical; tolerable cramping and light bleeding now

So, my OB says after 2 periods (whenever that might decide to start again, I have no idea) we can try again.  I hope to be back here soon, even though you ladies will all have moved on to at least 2nd Tri by then.  Good luck to all of you, I hope you have happy and healthy pregnancies!

    I'm so sorry.  It will be a sad time for awhile, but you will get to a happy place someday.  After my D&C, I felt so empty, like I'd lost my identity and didn't know what to do next.  DH and grieved together, and life slowly returned to something like before the pregnancy.  I urgently wanted to get pregnant again, and so we started trying again as soon as my dr gave us the okay (after two cycles).  I was pg again three months later, and my beautiful little girl just turned two.  I just wanted to share a story of healing, because it will come for you, too.  Hang in there, and grieve as you need to, but know that things will gradually get better.
