CD mommas...come in!

I'm thinking about switching over to CD. Tell me which ones you use and why you like them. Also, home many and what "accessories" I should get. TIA!

    Check out the Eco Friendly Family board and read some of the old posts.  They talk about CDs all the time. 

     We've used prefolds, fitteds, and some different pockets (OS and sized).  I think the sized pockets are my favorites, but they're a little bulky.  I like my Thirsties fitted a lot too.  It's very trim.  Basically, the jury's still out.

     We also have one diaper pail, bag for it, two wet bags, two snappis...  I think that's it.

    jilliansdrawers.com has a great trial because CDs work different from child to child. We are using fuzzi bunz, prefolds, fitted, and bumgenius organic.

    We used Kissaluvs and prefolds with Thirsties covers during the first 5 or 6 weeks.  After that, we used Kissaluvs and Bum Genius 3.0 (pocket diapers).

    I didn't have enough diapers during the first month (8 KLOs and 12 PFs).  I used some sposies to get me through when I didn't have time to wash diapers.  Once we started using the BGs, I stopped using all sposies.  I've been very happy with my experiences so far.

    I currently have 30 BGs in rotation.  We send them to daycare, and the staff really like them.  We wash every other day, but I can stretch it to every two days when necessary.  I always send 6 diapers with DD to daycare.  She goes through 4, but I like to have a couple extras just in case.

    For accessories, we use cloth wipes at home and I LOVE them.  We also have hemp inserts for her night diapers.  I also love them.  We will start solids in a couple of weeks, so I have some disposable rice paper liners to help w/the poop mess, but I haven't used them yet so I can't comment on those.

    My BGs have held up well considering how often we wash them and that we've been using them for 5 months.  A few of the laundry tabs are starting to wear off, but the shells and the squedecloth portions of the diaper are in great shape.  I have some staining on my microfiber inserts, but I haven't been able to sun them.  No one see the stains anyway b/c they're tucked inside the diaper. 

    I know some girls prefer snaps, but I like have the quick velcro closure since DD has always been a wiggler.

    ETA: We have two zippered wet bags for daycare and two larger drawstring wetbags to line our flip-top garbage pail at home.
