Ok, so I dont know if everyone knows this or not but Saturday (the day before mother's day) is Birthmother's Day! (I didn't know this for the longest time!)
A call is always apreciated but some ideas for gifts that I've been given have been :
A little photobook made at photoworks.com
A coffee cup with pictures of the birthchild
a Charm bracelet with charms that had to do with my birthchild or my life
a custom kleenex box with pics of my birthkids
and this year one of my birthkids made me a scrapbook!! Very Special!!
Re: Birthmother's Day
Yeah, I heard this a couple years ago when we were waiting. From what I understand, some moms love it and others hate it. I can see both sides of it. The ones who love it say it makes them feel special to have their "own" day of recognition. The ones who hate it say it makes them feel awful for being singled out/separated from just a plain old mom.
:::shrugs:::
We just do regular ol' Mother's Day for DD's b-mom. But she's also parenting a child too, so that makes it a little easier of a decision for us. I'm actually mailing her package out tomorrow.
I wonder if this is something specific to the US? I have been a b-mom for 10 years and never heard of it before!
I think it is a nice gesture - I can see that some b-moms would feel uncomfortable though.
On regular Mother's Day, I often get a call from my son, which is wonderful, and before he was old enough to really talk on the phone, he and his mom would paint a picture for me and send it to me. That was really perfect.
