TTC After a Loss

Is it normal? (May be TMI)

As I posted two days ago my first AF since the D&C showed up.  This morning I woke up and had completely bled through my tampon and an hour later bled through another one (super plus size cause it's so heavy).  Is this normal?  There are also clots.  I'm guessing it's normal since it's my first cycle since the D&C but am curious as to if this was the experience for others.

  • All of my AF's since our first loss have been heavier than before with some degree of clotting. The good news is that they have also been shorter in length so hopefully that will happen for you. I'd say it's normal but if it keeps up at that rate for more than 12 hours or so I'd call your doctor.

  • I didnt' have a D&C, but I did the same thing after my natural m/c.  Lots of blood, lots of clots... changing tampons every 30 minutes.  My doc told me if it lasted more than a day to go in and see him, but it only lasted for about 12-15 hours.  Sorry your going through this :(

  • I didn't have a D&C so I'm not sure how AF's are after that.  But, I think if you are bleeding that much, you might want to call the Dr and ask her opinion.  GL!!

  • I didn't have a D&C, but mine was definitely like that. Just keep an eye on it and if you are worried, it can't hurt to give the Dr a quick call. GL to you.

  • Mine was heavier then it ever was the second day. I would keep an eye on it and give the doctor a call if it continues into tomorrow.

  • Thanks ladies.  I just didn't realize how heavy it would be.  If it's this way tomorrow I will call the midwife, for now I'll just wait it out.

This exactly, but, the very first one was super super heavy for 2-3 days. I think I went through a box of super + tampons and quite a few 'backup' pads. We had a follow-up soon after that. Dr. said that if it was like that again, to try to lay down and put my feet up. The clotting can be a sign that you are working your body too hard as well.
