When did you tell?

hi! I'm just over 6 weeks pregnant with my first child! I'm super excited, but my body and mind are still adjusting to this big change!

I'm wondering when you all told the "public." We've told families, and though they respect the wishes, they are DYING to tell everyone...

I'm really nervous because I want to make sure we're past the very delicate stage...and want everyone to hold it in until AT least 10 weeks...

When did you all tell? What do you recommend?

Each week we've told someone else. We're only telling close friends and family that we know will be there for us no matter what. I'm still too nervous to tell co-workers. Not telling them until 11 weeks.

Do what feels right for you.

We told parents and close family/friends right away, it felt right.

I told work right away too because it was appropriate to do so (I'm a nurse).

I'm not going to broadcast it to the rest of the crew (facebook, etc...) til 12 weeks, after our NT scan.

I couldn't wait... A lot of people I see everyday knew by 8 weeks... I just posted on my facebook and myspace 2 days ago...which was over 12 weeks...

We told MIL right away 4 wks, we told my mom at 5 wks and I told my boss at 6 wks.

We've told maybe 2 people.. and my dentist (lol).. waiting until at least 8 weeks (heartbeat) to tell family (they're out of town and we wanted to tell them in person) and close friends.. probably 12 weeks before telling everyone.. we tried for SO long, people have stopped asking

I'm telling my close family this weekend at 7 weeks. I won't be telling me close friends until like 10-12 weeks and work not until 16 weeks..

We told everyone pretty much as soon as we found out... We're extremely close to our families and couldn't stand to keep a secret like that!

I would have burst had I waited until 12 weeks! I told almost everyone at about 8 & a half weeks! Congrats by the way!!!!

I can really say what I recommend because its a personal choice. I do recommend doing it when you feel comfortable though. We told everyone at 9 weeks after we saw the heartbeat.

We're waiting until after my first appt. on the 21st. I graduate on the 23rd so we'll most likely tell them then. I'll be 7 weeks 1 day.

We told family and friends as soon as we found out. It was something too big and we knew we would not be able to keep it from them that long. We figured the more support we have and prayers for a safe pregnancy the better. Everyone else (general public, work, church, etc,) after 8 weeks.

We are telling our parents and siblings this weekend. Can't wait until Sunday! The rest of the world once we hear the HB.

My boss and one co-worker knows. I typically work 11 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. So if we are really slow at the end of the day I can take off early.

Like everyone else has been saying it's with whatever you are comfortable with. A girl I used to work with told everyone at 5 weeks.

DH will wait and tell his parents at the end of the month and then the rest of the family a few weeks later. ?

We told everyone, family, co-workers, etc. at 11 1/2 weeks. so just a few days ago. It was great and everyone was so proud of me for keeping it secret.

I've heard that the risk drops so significantly after you hear the heartbeat, but we didn't want to take our chances. It took us 8 years to get pregnant and we didn't want to mess around.

We told our parents right away (thinking that if we did have a miscarriage, they would be our greatest support). We waited until 13 weeks (right after I saw the doctor for the second time and heard the heartbeat again) to tell the rest of the world.

You need to do what feels right and most comfortable to you. If you're not ready to tell, then wait.

We had been trying to conceive for 2.5 years, so we told EVERYONE as soon as the stick said positive. We were way too excited to hold that in! I'm 10 weeks today, and so far so good. I have to believe that everything is going to be just fine. This baby is SO wanted! Plus, if anything were to go wrong I would need everyone's support. I say tell away!

My husband and I found out at about 5 weeks and we told our parents and siblings right away. This for us seemed right....a few weeks later we told a few of our close friends and then after the first doctors appointment it became public knowledge.

I think that it is a personal think in knowing when you wanted to share with you friends and family this happy news. Some want to wait but if you want to share....I say share.

We waited until after our NT Scan which was at 10w5d. We figured that was close enough to the 2nd trimester and at that point we had seen our baby and their heartbeat twice and had heard the heartbeat as well. The doctor told us that the chances of losing a baby at that point would be less than 5%. It was so fun to tell everyone!!!!!

We're telling immediate family at 10.5-11 weeks, just because that's a convenient time to tell them (the only time we'll see my family together during this pregnancy), and we'll tell everyone else after the NT scan at 12 weeks.

We started letting the cat out of the bag to our parents siblings and close friends from 4-8 wks. Then we said it was ok to tell whoever at 11wks after we had our U/S. However I had been finding out that one of our friends and my mom of all people did not do a very good job of keeping their mouths shut, so I had to tell some people sooner than I would have liked. I hate keeping secrets but next time I'm not telling anyone until I'm ready for everyone to know.

I told my best friend (UK) at 4 weeks, my best friend (USA) at 5wks, i told my Dad yesterday and my sister today, i'm building up the courage to call my mum and tell her. Otherwise we are holding out to tell the rest of the world after the first scan on June 9th!

We're telling everyone on Mothers Day. I'll be 12 weeks. I had a doc appointment yesterday and wanted to make sure we were all good and the levels, heart beat, growth, size, etc was all good with the baby before we told. That and the DH didnt want anyone to know, including his own mother until i was at least 12 weeks. At first it was hard to keep a secret, but after planning on how to tell them it'll be worth the wait. I also feel better too knowing the baby is doing great.

We told family after my first ob appointment at 6 1/2 weeks. The doc had said that my risk for m/c was really low so I felt comfortable telling. I told at work because they played a very stressful prank on me. I have a sense of humor but didn't need that kind of stress in the first trimester! There haven't been anymore pranks since LOL!

Some people wait until the 12 week milestone. We couldn't do it.Almost everyone knows now. Wink
