Boston Babies

16 weeks

Happy Friday Everyone!

I just had my 16 week appointment and got to hear baby's heart beat for the 3rd time. It was very strong and loud this time my Fiance was like 'Jesus!' hehe! Last appointment it was very faint so he didn't really hear it well.

I made the appointment for my 18 week (first) ultrasound!  We were pretty sure we wanted it to be a surprise and wait to see what we were having but now that its time for the ultrasound I'm not sure anymore!!

For us it doesn't matter about painting a room because he/she will be in our room, until we move to a 2 bedroom apt.

I was just curious to see what everyone else on here did. Did you find out? Or did you wait??

Enjoy this beautiful Friday Everyone! Cool

Re: 16 weeks

  • Congrats on hearing the hb. That's very exciting. Though I have a ways to go, I am definitely someone who needs to find out. I know people say there aren't too many surprises in life and I wish I could be more patient but no can do. DH is the same way. GL!

  • Hi and congrats on your baby!  I've heard people talk about waiting and being surprised, but you still are surprised when they tell you what the gender is at the u/s, right?  DH and I have 3 boys and of course were hoping for a girl.  We wanted to know what the gender was so we could plan for the clothes (all green and yellow clothes gets boring), painting the nursery and just plain bonding with the baby while in utero.  I got to the u/s and DH was a bit late due to traffic.  I asked the u/s tech to look and see what the gender was and not tell me until DH got there (the last u/s we had, we could not tell the gender cuz the baby was sleeping on its belly with its legs crossed.  We were sooo disappointed).  Two weeks later, the tech was able to see its gender but waited til DH got there ten min later.  It KILLED me that she knew and I didnt know.  When DH got there, she asked if we were ready for the news and then stated "you are having a baby........GIRL"!!!!!   I held my breath while she paused before saying GIRL.....my husband pumped his fists and jumped into the air.  I broke out into tears!!!  It was the best surprise and feeling!!!  Now we talk to her and refer to her by her name and DH sings songs to her using her name.  We've painted her room, are buying pink clothes (FINALLY!!!!) and are bonding with our daughter.  Everyone has their own personal feelings on this, but why wait when you can start the bonding process with your baby sooner rather than later?

     Good luck to you!

  • I am a planner so I am def going to find out.  I want to get the babys room ready.  I am only 9 weeks and wish I could know now!!!
  • My husband and I are going to wait and be surprised.  His family is going crazy with the idea of not knowing, but I like surprises and do not mind waiting to find out.  Good luck with whatever you decide.

  • I just had my 18 week ultrasound - my hubby and I thought that we wanted to wait to find out the gender, but once we were in the room we broke down and found out it is a boy!

One thing we found is that even though we knew I was pregnant - knowing the gender makes it more real for us.  We think it was a great last minute decision!

  • I see now that you are 19 weeks.  Did you find out?  I have my next ultrasound next Thursday and we cannot wait to find out. I think it will make it more real for me.  DId you love the Ultrasound?  Weve already had 2 I cant wait for the next one!!!!!!
