Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How do I handle this?

BIL and SIL are going to be C's godparents.  They're flying out from ND in 2 weeks for C's baptism with their 2 little girls (one is 6 months, one is a little over 2 years).  We asked what they were doing about bringing carseats and BIL said "oh, we just aren't going to bring (the 2-year-old's) booster seat."

Uhhh... no.  I am not comfortable with this AT ALL.  Not to mention the fact that it's illegal for us to drive around with her just buckled into the back seat.  DH told him he'd prefer that they bring it and BIL said "well we'll see if we have room" and ended the conversation there.

Obviously this is not okay.  How would you tell them this without causing too much drama after BIL has already blown it off??

  • Random thought- why not buy one for them and keep it for DD?  I'm not sure if you guys are in a position to do that monetarily but they are quite irresponsible for not MAKING room.  That's pretty much a necessity, IMO.

  • not your child. ?i would have them rent a car so that they are responsible for driving their child around. ?seems harsh, but that's their decision.

I can't believe that they wouldn't bring it...seems irresponsible to me. Garnet has a great idea though, I would probably do that if it were me. Better safe than sorry and they don't seem to care

There's an idea!  But do they "expire" after a couple years?

LOLOL!!  Expire!  Not sure....  You mean, because of saftey recalls and regulations?  I'm sure a year or two won't be that big of a deal...

I mean, I know you can't use infant carseats after a certain number of years because they aren't considered safe anymore, I wonder if it's the same with boosters?  I wouldn't want it to pass that deadline while C's still using it, she is a teeny girl.  I will look into it, thank you!!
