Babies: 0 - 3 Months

So I just turned 39, first baby

I have never felt old before, but I do now.  I want two kids but don't know if I have the energy now.  TTC for 4 years, started with twins, lost one at around 11 weeks.  The rest is history.  I am probably the oldest person on this site.  So, am I just tired because I have a 3mo, or do ALL of you younger ladies feel prepared for your next?  Any suggestions?  I know it is not easy for anyone, but does age matter?

  • I don't know if it's age, but I definitely feel a little worn out at the end of the day. But I still want another in two years... Addicted to babies! Ha ha!

And I'm 33, going on 34 this year, so I'm not too far behind you...

  • I am terrified of having the second one... and I want four. I don't know how I'll have the energy though! And I'm 28. So you're not alone!
  • I'm 28 and i'm exhausted. I don't think I can handle another one for a long...long...long..did I mention LONG time?!

  • I am 39 and just had my 2nd. I'm exhausted running after a 2 1/2 year old toddler and waking with a 6 month old baby. The other day my husband said something about another one. If only I were 29 instead of 39. I am with you in the hopes that I get some energy back soon! Maybe once this baby starts really sleeping. :)
  • If it makes you feel any better, I'm 24 and exhausted! I don't think age has too much to do with it. My cousin is 43 and pregnant with her 4th! I don't know how she does it.

  • We went in to this saying we would have two but with the way I have been feeling I don't know.  I am 34.  Up until I gave birth I said we would have both very close to each other.  Now I am saying *if* there is another one we will wait until I am at least 37 and DD is 3 yrs old.
  • Hey there!  It is nice to see someone else in their late 30s here!!  I just turned 39 two days after my son was born in March.  This is my first baby also and we would like to have another one at some point.  When I was pregnant I thought I was done having kids, now I could see having another baby.  I know time is an issue.  My ob told me to start trying again in 6 mos!  yikes!

I think most moms during the first 6 mos. are exhausted and a little out of it!  Hang in there and congratulations!

  • Well, I'm 34... I have the philosophy that having kids now will help keep me young.  I want them to be active and that will keep me active.  I was already active before, but now I have to set a good example :-).

DH has always wanted more than one kid, I'm warming up to the idea of more than one... during labor, I recall thinking "NEVER AGAIN," but as soon as she was born and I saw her, my first thought was "OMG, LET'S DO THIS AGAIN RIGHT AWAY!!" - so since I'm not getting any younger, if we have another, we're going to do it quickly (or at least try, we had some IF issues the first time around).  I have a feeling these early years are going to be among the most demanding/tiring for me ~ I'd like to get the whole pregnant/birth/diapers phase over and done with!

  • I'm 39 too!  38 by a month when I had DS.  Same here- thought we wanted 2, but now I'm having SERIOUS thoughts about not.  Age is a huge factor.  I want 3 years between kids and the idea of being 42 w/ an infant?  Don't really know if I want to do it.

  • Well, I'm 42 and just had my first (at 41).  It also took us a long time, almost 2 years.  I am so tired, so the thought of another one is horrifying to me but clearly we have to get a move on if it's going to happen - before my ovaries give out!
  • Honestly, I think you're just tired b/c you have a 3 m/o.

I'm 31 and while I can't wait to have another, I can't really imagine doing it with a child already.  Having a baby w/o exiting children to take care of was difficult enough.

My mom had me at 38 and my sister at 44.  I figure if she can do it so can you (and me.)

  • Thank you ALL for your input.  My DH is going to want to KILL some of you........he is traumatized by this.  Although he is a great dad and can handle two! :)
  • I'm 32 and always wanted to "pop out" 3 by 36.  Now, we'll see if we even have another and if we do, I might wait until I'm 34-35 and that will be it...2 total.  But the thought of another is killing me b/c I am not doing well with my first right now.  Going out of my mind even with an amazing DH.

  • I just want to tell you that my mom had 3 in her late 20's and early 30's then got pregnant at 42 with twins, then had another at 44! That was 6 kids she was taking care of at the time in her mid 40's and working full time. The youngest is now 7 and my mom manages to finds time to do all the things she enjoys and still raise a family!
