This morning I got a migraine. I used to get them all the time.... then they went away, and now they are back with a vengance. Called the doctor's office and they called me in a prescription for Imitrex.
So I go to the pharmacy..... walk in looking like hell, my head pounding, wearing sunglasses. Go up to the counter, and some crabby lady tells me it is going to be 45 minutes. I told her I had a migraine, and asked very nicely if there was any way they could do it faster. She gave me attitude back and said no. I look around, I am the only customer and the pharmacist is sitting in the back chatting with another employee.
And I just lost it. DID YOU WAKE UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE BED TODAY? I AM PREGNANT AND I HAVE A MIGRAINE, AND THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT ME? WHY ARE YOU BEING SO MEAN? THERE IS NO ONE ELSE HERE, WHY CAN'T YOU HAVE SOME SYMPATHY? WHAT IS YOUR NAME? I AM GOING TO REPORT YOU TO CORPORATE..... on and on..... All the pharmacy employees seemed scared of me. But my Rx got done in less than 5 minutes!
Moral of the story: Be nice to pregnant ladies with migraines!
And now I am relaxing at home.... Imitrex is a miracle drug.

I work in a pharmacy. Just because you do not see anyone standing there waiting does not mean there are no prescriptions ahead of yours, and you have no idea what those prescriptions are. They could be for a sick baby, a dying hospice patient, or any number of other things.
We often have people drop off a script and go run errands or go get something to eat and come back so again, so if everyone came in and demanded that their script be put first, there would be problems.
Seriously. Especially with a kind request from a pregnant lady who is obviously in a lot of pain. I understand there may be a lot going on at the pharmacy that we don't see, maybe a lot of call ins for pick up, etc., but is a little kindness too much to ask for?
yeah I totally agree, there is no need for rudeness. Just explaining the why's behind the wait.
