My induction turned C Section

Charlotte Anne was born on April 22nd (Earth Day Baby) at 6:57 PM weighing in at 7 lbs 8.8 oz and was 19.5 inches long!!

I went in for my induction early Wednesday morning, 80%+ effaced and 2-3 cm dilated...they started me on the pitocin right away and started feeling contractions right away, but they were not bad.  The MW came in to break my water at 8 am and during my internal found that our little girl had disengaged herself from my pelvis and was floating around, so she upped the pitocin to push her back down and waited to break my water.  Around 12pm she came back to check me and break my water,  and while checking me again, she felt a head, but also some fingers as her hand was over her head, so we upped the pitocin some more and waited....around 2pm she was starting to engage again and the MW broke my water and attached the internal heart rate monitor and cxn monitor...let me tell you, weirdest feeling...and I had sooooooooo much fluid...they said it looked about 5 lbs of fluid that left my body....after about an hour I had had it with the contraction pain and asked for the epi (i was a good 3 cm by then) and the anestesiologist (sp?) came in and gave me the epi.  I was terrified of the epi at first, but he was good and barely felt a thing...all I knew is that I did not want a C Section; I was terrified of having one...

Well, Murphy's Law...my labor stalled at 3 cm so after 6 hours of labor, my MW called in the OB to do a C-Section...I was terrified and it all happened so fast...they took my husband out, made him change, made me take that acid controller stuff and put a cap on me and wheeled me into the OR...I was panicking so the surgeon made me put my ipod on during the surgery (LIFESAVER)...about 10 minutes later our little girl made her appearance screaming (even before they pulled her completley out) and scored 9 and 9 on her APGARS...she was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!!!

Luckily, the docs made me put my ipod on, because I guess during the surgery I was hemorrhaging pretty badly and they were having a really hard time stopping the bleeding, so I was in surgery for a long time...they ended up sedating me as my spinal wore off while they were codorising some vessels or something, because I was starting to feel some pain.DH was great throughout the whole thing and  held it together for my sake during the whole crisis/hemorrhaging stage. I didnt find out until I was in recovery that he about collapsed after they wheeled me out...I will say that my L&D nurse Laura was fantastic and stayed past her shift to be with me in the OR...she cried when the baby was born and was able to go share with my family that she was doing great and what was going on in the OR with me...she helped make the whole thing easier!!

We stayed in the hosptial for 4 days and came home last weekend. Recovery has been fairly rough, and the baby blues really suck. The crying and the anxiety is a little hard to handle at times...but she is all worth it!!!
