I just got off the phone with my OB and have an appt. at 9 1/2 weeks on June 3. The nurse said they would be able to do an ultrasound at the appt and I'm just curious if it's worth having DH come with me. What were your experiences? TIA
DH went with me to every appointment. I would ask and encourage your DH to go. If you get to hear the HB or have an ultrasound, you don't want him to miss out.
My husband has went to all of my appointments. In my opinion if they are doing an ultrasound it would be great for him to go so he can see the baby just like you.
LOL I posted the same thing before my first appt and everyone said to have him come! ?I'm so glad he did. ?It was a little akward when they did the regular exam stuff (pap, internal exam) but it was awesome when they did the u/s. We heard the heartbeat also. ?It was great and he loved it!!
BTW, I can't seem to make the numbers go away (I hit the bottom somehow) so SORRY!!! LOL
DH has come to everything. I can't imagine not having him there for support, plus he wants to be a part of everything. It is a great time to share and I think it only adds to the excitement.
My DH came to my first appt where I too had an ultrasound. He loved seeing the baby. Since he saw the baby he's bonded with it (he talks to it and kisses my tummy when he leaves and all sorts of stuff) and I don't think he would be like that if he hadn't seen the baby. As well, my second appt they told me I was just having a vag exam and that my husband didn't need to be there. Well then they listened to the heartbeat, my husband was VERY upset that he didn't get to hear the baby. So needless to say for my experience, my husband will be going to ALL appointments from now on.
Now saying this, my husband and I are both comfortable with my husband being in the room no matter what they do to me and I think that makes a big difference.
Mine is. We are getting an ultrasound, so of course he's coming! He just go laid off recently, so he goes to all my appts anyway, he's not working!

Definitely!!! My DH has come with me to every appt thus far and plans to continue to go with me throughout this pregnancy. I think in the beginning it is hard for them to really feel connected to the pregnancy since they aren't experiencing what we are and they can't see or feel the baby yet. My husband was in awe when we did the first u/s and saw the heartbeat. he was even more amazed when we went in for the NT Scan 4 weeks later and the baby looked like a baby and was moving all around. I think he feels much more connected now and feels like he is apart of this pregnancy too.?
O and as far as the rest of the appts, it will be nice if he can come, but I will def not be upset if he can't. ?I actually tried to schedule my first 2 (the regular OB and the high-risk ob) around his schedule. ?The next appts were made based on the doctor's?availability. ?It will be nice for him to come, but not a big deal if he can't.
My DH has come to all of the appointments so far, he really likes being a part of it. I think it helps it feel more real to him when he can see the baby on the u/s and hear the heart beat. I would encourage your DH to go!!!

Thanks ladies! I wasn't sure if it was worth him coming, but if they do end up doing an ultrasound and we get to see the baby, he would be so upset to miss that. And since he's a little nervous about being in the delivery room when the time comes, maybe this will help!
Oh yes! Your DH should go! We had our first appt yesterday and my DH thought it was awesome! I think it finally convinced him that this was for real. It was so awesome to see the heart beat and to see the little arm and leg nubs.
Take him. U/s's are awesome for the men to see because they become more involved in the pregnancy. Rather than you just being sick, tired or getting thicker, it becomes real to them and it helps them to understand why all of this is happening to their wife.
My first appointment is tomorrow and DH will be going with me. I'm greatful he has a job, but it sucks and he won't be able to take off for all of my appointments. He will probably go to the BIG U/S with me though.
DH came with me to my 5wk ultrasound and 8wk ultrasound. He was great to have there b/c I was so overwhelmed that he had to ask the questions. I like the support of my husband, after all he contributed a small amount to the making of little baby

My plan was to have him come to every one that I had an U/S. I think it is important for them to see. But if you are not having an U/S I think it's pointless for him to go. I did all mine in one day so he came, but when I got my pap and such I was in the room by myself and DH in waiting room. So if he or you don't want him be a part of that he doesn't have to be. If he can get off work or is free I say bring him. Otherwise just bring him in for the big stuff. Dr. told us that some men never come at all and some come to everything. I guess it's whatever you want.
I think your husband will want to go. You can call your doctor to see if the ultrasound is at a specific time (mine was). My husband came only for the ultrasound and then left (back to work). He was so glad he went. It was truly an amazing experience for us both. I would not have wanted to experience it on my own. He would have missed out. My husband is only planning on going to the ultrasound appointments unless I want him to go to any others (which I don't see necessary right now). I hope that helps.
