nbr: SICK of DH working from home so much!

Gaaah. I love DH and am very happy he got promoted to field sales, but this working from home 4 out 5 days a week is KILLING ME. He is in my face off an on frequently all day when I just want to relax for a few minutes and drink my coffee or eat my lunch while DD takes one of her short naps. He makes himself breakfast and leaves a mess for me to clean up (even though he complains about *my* cleaning habits because he's the OCD one of us about it, wtf?!). He gives me the side-eye every 10 minutes that he stomps out of the office (cause god forbid he learn how to walk without shaking the whole damn house while she's sleeping) if I just happened to be on the internet for a few.

I like a mellow, quiet, easy goin' household. He is none of these things :| I can handle 2 or maybe even 3 days - but this 4 + weekends crap is getting on my last nerve. We never have time apart!! How am I supposed to miss him and be stoked to see him (as he complains about wanting) when HE'S ALWAYS FREEKING HERE!!!

*NEED. SPACE*.

AHhhhh!!!!

</end vent> omg.

  • yeah, i have similar feelings about when dh works from home. it's easier when he's not there!

  • Maybe he could rent an office, which could dual as a photography studio for you in the future?

BFF's had this problem. He ended up renting an office, which they also put used as her business for meeting clients to go over proofs and stuff...

  • I feel your pain. DH only works from home about once every two or three weeks, but it drives me nuts! He makes messes in the kitchen but doesn't clean them up because he's working and doesn't have time. He takes conference calls and YELLS his conversations (I'm assuming everyone he works with is legally hearing impaired). He's just in the way and messes with my routine. Blah!

Oh yeah, he's WFH today. Ugh.

  • That would annoy me too.  I love my me time. DH was away for the weekend with DD a little bit ago and it was so nice being able to veg out on the couch, eat junk food and watch chick flicks without getting any commentary from him on how I should be spending my day.

Yes! The shouted conversations!! What's up with that? The man can't speak into a phone at a normal volume, I swear!

And it's not that he doesn't HAVE an office to go to - he's a field rep in the same area as their company office where he used to work 5 days a week LOL. He just doesn't want to go to that office because he doesn't 'have' to now. :| I get it, really, it's a pain to drive to the office and more comfortable at home but damn dude.... I can't breathe! I feel guilty if I don't clean constantly when he's out here so he doesn't think I do nothing all day, then he 'accidentally' wakes DD up at least 3 or 4 times a week from slamming cupboards or stomping aruond on our upstairs woodfloors.

Drives me batty, I tell you, how would he like it if I sat in the office looking over HIS shoulder all day! *shakes fist*

  • 2 things... OMG yes I know what you mean.  There is a trail of his crap all over the house.  I can see what he ate, when he took his socks off, when he used the bathroom etc etc.  He travels for work often and I love a few day to myself  :)

and 2) Bellpeppers, I saw a car with a vanity plate yesterday that said SMUSH.  I LOL'd on the street.  :)  If only I had a camera.

  • OMG!  DH and I would kill each other if we had to spend that much time together.  That just plain sucks!  Is there something you could do during the day while he's there - maybe you and DD make a playdate every week on a certain day just to get out of the house while he's there?

We'd be divorced in a month in those conditions.  For your own sanity, you must get out of the house!

We have playdates at least every other day, swim lessons twice a week, and I try to get out for lunch w/ my mom at least once a week if I can. In the afternoon we play outside w/ the neighbors and their kids for an hour - but seriously just the down time especially drives me nuts. I hate feeling like someone is judging me when I get my few and far between moments of peace!
  • I feel for you, I would be going crazy too in that situation.
