My aunt just told me the other day that her cousin's wife that was due a few weeks after me just lost the baby. Why, why why why would you tell me that?! Especially since you KNOW I'm a worrier and have BAD anxiety. WTF are people thinking?! She's like, "oh I didn't tell you that to scare you". Really? Then why DID you tell me? I have no idea who your cousin is and you haven't talked to them in nearly 30 years, so why did you tell me again?! UGH!
Re: WHY do people tell you things to freak you out when your pregnant?
Both my mom and MIL are always talking about tragic stories. It seems they try to out do the other. My husband and I joke around when they get started by calling them "gloom" and "doom". Then they shut up.
Also, a friend felt the need to tell me that her mother lost a baby at 8 months. Hello, I'm 8 month! Some people just don't think.
A women who comes into my work felt the nedd to tell me about her neighbor who lost the baby at 33 weeks. Then she was all like "oops, maybe I shouldnt have told you that." Uh, ya think? Yeah keep you damn mouth shut. I dont need to worry about this sh*t
My husbands coworker lost in week 38 and now he is super scared that something is going to happen to our little man. Even after the ob assured him that cord accidents are really rare.
