2nd Trimester

Horrible Headaches

Hi Ladies, I just started my 2nd Trimester a few days ago and this is the first time in my pregnancy so far that I have developed horrible headaches that last all day.  I spoke to the nurse at my doctor's office and she said that Tylenol is okay to take, but I wanted to see if anyone else here has been experiencing bad headaches and what other suggestions you have.  Thanks :)

Re: Horrible Headaches

  • I would take tylenol or my Dr. recommended caffeine can do the trick as well. Mine were migraine's tho. Tylenol won't hurt you.

  • I was having bad headaches that I took Tylenol for. They are back with a vengance! I try to have a little caffeine every day too to help stave them off.

Go ahead and take the Tylenol. Won't hurt anything! GL and hope you feel better soon!

  • Hey..I have had them terrible..started getting really bad about 3 weeks before I got my BFP...And they are still horrible..I hope they dont continue for you..It is so painful in fact, I have one today as well..And it hurts like a beep.

My doc told me to take tylenol but to be honest it doesnt help..Before I got pregnant, I took tylenol 1 with codeine..and havent since I found out I was pregnant.  I find regular tylenol isnt helping, so I stopped..I hope it works for you..GL

I've had headaches lately, but I am blaming mine on allergies/sinus.

  • Ugh, my whole life has been headaches. They're not pregnancy-related. But because of the pregnancy, I can't take my usual arsenal of medicine. Mine got so brutal that my OB prescribed Tylenol with codeine. I'm supposed to use it sparingly, but the perinatologist we just saw said it was fine to take.

If your sinuses are the problem, try non-medical remedies, like a neti pot. Also, elevate your head to sleep, and always keep a humidifier nearby. My doc recomended nursery humidifiers--they're best, she says. If it's stress/tension, maybe prenatal yoga or massages?

Take care of yourself, and be sure to keep well hydrated. The baby needs you in top form! I know it's really hard. I feel for ya!

  • I get them all the time also. Tylenol isn't the most effective but it does mildly help. Also drink lots of water, I find that helps when I can't lie down and close my eyes.
  • That was TOTALLY the beginning of my 2nd trimester. And I've seen a lot of other women write the same post around 13/14 weeks. I found that drinking a sh!tload of water helped, but I also took tylenol every other day for a while. It passes, really.

  • I had bad headaches around 14 weeks and they seem to have went away. I would drink tons of water and take tylenol. But nothing really helped.
  • i have bad ones too. my doctor gave me a prescription last time i was there for something stronger. i also started getting chiropractic adjustments and massage and that helps too.
  • I had horrible headaches when I first entered 2nd tri as well. I found that taking the rapid release tylenol helped more than just the normal (tylenol doesn'thelp much with horrible headaches!). I also got a massage and that seemed to help. If it makes you feel better mine FINALLY let up after a week or two but it was a rough week or two waiting for that to happen.

  • ::Raises hand really high::

i suffer from migrains so tynelon doesnt do much.. i take Tynelon extra strength and still not much help, but better than regular tynelon.

I ended up changing my diet and havent had a migraine since. I no longer eat yeast and no caffeine.. give that a try.

oh and absolutely no stress. if my hubby is starting to annoy me, he knows to leave the house pronto!

    good luck

  • I went through a two weeks stint around 13-14 weeks with horrible head aches.  I just took Tylenol.  It sucked but it eventually went away.  Good luck.
  • I have been having really bad headaches throughout my entire pregnancy. My dr suggest at first tylenol or ibuprofen that didnt help. So then I moved to a prescription med Fiorcet that didnt really help so now when they are really bad I take a loratab. I get them everyday and only have to use the loratab once a week. I hope you start to feel better b/c I know how bad it can be.
