Those with 6 month olds....

What time do you put your baby to bed? How are they sleeping? My little guy is a horrible sleeper. He use to sleep awesome but at about 3 1/2 it all changed. Now he sleeps for a half hour at night and wakes up crying. He just wants to be held. Half the time he sleeps in a swing. Tonight he fell asleep at 7pm, woke up at 7:45 screaming and I am still trying to get him back down. I am trying not to pick him up but it is hard because he doesnt give up crying. I need help!

    That sounds a lot like my DD when she was 5-6 months.  We would put her to bed at 8 and like clockwork, she was up at 8:20 screaming and inconsolable unless we picked her up.  She was up several times after that to nurse as well.  We finally used Ferber at 6 months and the problem was cured instantly.  She cried for a little (OK, a lot), but did fall asleep on her own and she slept the entire night the first night.  With the exception of the past week or so (teething), she has been sleeping really well after Ferber.  It took probably 3 nights for there to be no crying / fussing, but it was totally worth it.  We're kind of back to nursing to sleep, but she sleeps the whole night with no feedings, so I'm just going with it for now.  She still goes to bed around 8 and sleeps till 6:30.  I know some will disagree with this, but it really worked for us after exhausting a lot of other options.  I highly recommend reading the book.  Good luck!

    I still can't figure out when to put DS to bed.  Usually it is between 8 and 9.  He wakes up 99.9% of the time after 45 and cries until I come in.  If I am lucky he will only wake up 2-3 more times after that, but sometimes every hour.  He has to be rocked to sleepy or asleep every time.  We tried Ferber at 4 months and he was still crying over an hour on day 5 so we quit.  We will probably try again soon.  DH is no help and it is exhausting.

    Oh, and half the time I end up sleeping with him in the glider because I am so tired.

    Ok so at least I am not alone.  I know some night I fall asleep sitting up on the couch with the baby attached to my boob! I cant wait until he starts sleeping better.
