marigolds for rabbits

Keeping them away that is. They are eating my broccoli and it's making me mad! Has anyone tried marigolds? And do you plant them directly next to the plant they want to eat, or just around the garden. My veggie garden is about 30 ft x 20 feet, so I can't exactly trim it in marigolds.?

Re: marigolds for rabbits

  • I use bone meal (otherwise known as blood meal or blood flakes).  It's 100% nitrogen, and keeps the bunnies away.  You'll have to hunt a bit for it, but if you ask anyone who's had a garden for awhile in your area, they should know where to get it.

  • My mom said to do this for deer too. Plant around the garden, doesn't have to be a solid border from what I understand, just maybe every foot or so I think??

  • I think you can also use hair to keep bunnies away.
