Tylenol for diaper rash?

My DD seems to be in so much pain from her diaper rash.  I'm treating it with Desitin and A+D, but I know it will take a few days to heal.  Does it make sense to give her a little Tylenol?  Also, I'm nursing her constantly because it seems to comfort her.  I hope I'm not starting a bad habit.  I just feel so bad!

Re: Tylenol for diaper rash?

  • i don't know about the Tylenol issue but re: nursing, I let my LO comfort suck when he needs it.  He won't take a pacifier and I really don't see anythign wrong with it.

  • DH is a pediatric pharmacist, and he says he wouldn't give Tylenol for a diaper rash....but if you really feel it will help, it's not the end of the world if you do!

Also, to treat the diaper rash, have you tried Maalox/Aquaphor?  You mix the 2, and it makes a great diaper rash (the pharmacists mix it up for the babies at the hospital per doctors requests).

Thanks!  I think I will hold off on the Tylenol, since she's stopped screaming (for now).  And that combo sounds crazy, but if it works, I just might have to try it!
