Parenting after a Loss

Too many pee diapers?

Cloud's post has me wondering...how many is too many times for them to pee in a day?  Abby pees constantly she just doesnt fuss about it.  We change her diaper every 2-3 hours and have never ever had a dry one.  is this "normal"  Im going to attempt some online research but Im sure that will jsut scare the crap out of me like normal.

Re: Too many pee diapers?

  • I hope it's normal because Jax pee's all the time...and he hates being wet so we change him at least every 2 hours. My doctor has never mentioned that peeing too much is an issue? I think with Cloud, she is seeing an increase in Casey's peeing...Jax just ALWAYS pees alot. :)

  • Ethan never has a dry dipe either... I thought it was a good sign and would worry about dehydration if he didn't have a wet dipe.

We change every 2-3 hours and he's wet but not dripping wet. I think that not wet and dripping wet would worry me. Anything inbetween would be ok...

  • J5 pees a lot too.  I never thought to worry about it.  He has diapers where we try to guess how many times he peed in it.  If he's worn a diaper for 2 hours you can tell that he must have peed at least 3 times!
  • Kiran is always wet too, and never seems to mind.  I wonder if Casey was peeing through his diapers?  Or maybe she had the ones that change color when wet and noticed an increase.  Good luck to Casey!

  • DS is changed every 2-3 hours as well and I never worried about it being too much.
  • Changing every 2-3 hours is normal. For example, our daycare's policy is they have to change a diaper every 2 hours, no matter what (obviously earlier than that if they poop).

I would be concerned if you saw a huge increase in the amount of diapers suddenly. I think 20 a day is unusual, especially if it's not typical. Then again, babies pee all the time....they don't "save it up" like we do. They'll pee a little here and there because they don't have bladder control yet. So maybe if you were obsessive and changed it at the slightest sign of pee, you could go through a ton!

  • Totally normal...I don't think there is a "too many." ?When Ethan was a newborn and even still now he pees all the time. ?If I changed his diaper every time it was wet I would be changing diapers every 10 minutes or more.

Like you I just try to change him every 2-3 hours or if he poops.
