for mommies of girls

it was so touching for me to watch how my hubby reacted to us having a girl yesterday at our big u/s. he was all smiles and walking on clouds. it almost makes me teary-eyed (and i'm not a cryer) to see how excited he is to have a "daddy's little girl" on the way. i'm also so excited for him to be able to experience that special father-daughter relationship. i don't know, it was just so heart-warming.

when we told our friends (who also are having a little girl in july), the husband said "i knew it! you had that sparkle in your eye that only dads of little girls have!"

how have your hubbies reacted?

  • I swear that I saw a little tear in my dh's eye when we found out we are having a girl!

MH was thrilled! I think he was secretly hoping for a girl.  He says that now he knows what we're having, that he keeps noticing little girls out with their dads.

I can't wait to see him with her when she's here.

  • With DD, my DH was so excited. I know he orginally wanted a boy, but he never looked back once they said girl. DD is 2 now and she is SUCH a Daddy's little girl. She does everything with him. Its pretty much the sweetest thing I've ever seen, I love it.

  • At our first ultrasound with DD1 DH cried- but that was because he was seeign his baby, not because she was a girl.  He "expected" to have girls with DD1 and DD2 but I think that he was still a little diappointed to know that he was right.  He wants a boy SO badly!  I hope, for his sake, that this baby is a boy.  DH is assuming, again, that it is another girl but I think that is so he won't be disappointed if we find out that it IS another girl.
  • Big grin both times.  He loves our DD more than anything in the world and after we both got over a brief moment of dissapointment at finding out this one is a girl too (it's our last and DH is an only child so we were hoping for a boy this time), he's excited to meet her.
  • To see the daddy-daughter bond already develop is totally precious! DH and I both swore we were having a boy, but when the results came back that baby was healthy and a girl, we were both so so so excited.

DH tells me now that he can't wait for her to get here. The best is at night when we're laying in bed and he bends over to my stomach and kisses or tells her goodnight and all the things he can't wait to do with her. Makes me smile! Big Smile

He was ecstatic! He already has 2 boys from a previous relationship, so we both really wanted a girl. He is a great father and I know that he will adore his little girl.
  • My Husband was def jumping for joy with DS he even left me in the sonogram room to call everyone about it,  he loves his little buddy, but now that we are having a girl is like a totally different heart warming attitude, he didnt say much when the Tech told us but he had a smile from ear to ear and he keeps talking to DS about how much we are going to love our little princess and all that stuff, he is so cute!
  • Dh was very cute- he said his first thought was he has to start saving for her wedding so it is as perfect as ours!

He did make sure to ask me if he can still teach her about sports though lol

We found out yesterday and after I get back to work there is an email waiting for me that says, "Let's go out and celebrate tonight and buy her some things."  He picked out the sweetest little dress.  So cute!

  • DD has her daddy wrapped so tightly. I love watching him and her together. it's so sweet!  I asked him how he would managed being wrapped around 2 little girls fingers. He just grinned and said he could do it.

  • My husband was quiet, it didn't hit him right away.  He still hasn't said that much.  I think he's holding out for the confirmation u/s at the end of the month.
  • My DH said, grinning ear to ear, "Oh, sh*t.  Time to go buy a shotgun" (for when she's a teenager and there is a boy at the door ready to take her on a date)...
  • DH is a fireman and I thought he'd be disappointed if the baby was a girl, but he is so excited.  He rolls his eyes sometimes when I buy little pink dresses and asks if I'm only going to buy her pink things.  But he's already picked out onesies for her from his favorite sports teams.  When I show him things I've bought her, he smiles and says "You aren't expecting me to giggle or squeal with delight are you?"  But the other day I found baby firefighter boots and he beamed with pride, he was sooo excited.
  • DH is so excited and has been really cute about his little girl.  Our dog is a girl too, so every day he asks how his girls are doing or tells me to take care of his girls.  It's really sweet :)

  • He cried. He was so happy. Its really cute how he talks to her every morning and every night. She is already his little princess?
  • I totally teared up at the big U/S when they told us "it's a girl!" Did not even know how to react.

DH told me afterwards he thought "oh, gosh, now I have to get a shotgun to keep the boys away!"  I thought it was super cute that he was already thinking of our little girl's whole life!

  • We have two little girls and they are both daddy's girls!  My youngest now only wants him to rock her to sleep at night.  You should see how excited they get when he pulls in the driveway after work.  And he feels the same way about them!  He always tries to get me to keep our oldest up a bit later when it's bedtime.  We are not finding out if this baby is a boy or a girl, but DH thinks it's a girl...and he is so fine with having another girl.  Though we would both be very happy with either.  He is also the youngest of three girls and has 5 sisters total, so that may make him a little extra sensivitive when it comes to girls.  Enjoy it!  Girls are so great!!!
