Trying to Get Pregnant

Are you TTC or TTA? Clicky Poll (Re: GP Mamas)

With all GP Mama boom over the past few months, I'm wondering what the overall feeling on the board is. [Poll]

  • I picked the first choice.  I like reading about people I "know," and I like hearing how they are doing.  Yes, it gives me hope, but it's also informative.

As always, those that don't want to read about something can just skip over the post and not click.  Simple as that.

This. I honestly heart the GP Mamas!

  • ::running off to hide again::

sorry i didnt think my post was going to be seen as offensive.

  • I love GP Mamas, but today I am feeling a little despondent (probably due to the PMS).  I love hearing the updates and exciting pregnancy stuff, but I do feel like the general questions about pregnancy (like ultrasounds, when to buy maternity pants) might be better suited elsewhere.

    SINNER!  hehehe..

  • I'm in between the first and second choice.  If you tacked "They give me hope" onto #2, it would be almost perfect.  The complaining is OK sometimes b/c it reminds me there's the slightest upside to not being pg...

I don't want gp mamas to leave b/c I would miss them!

No, No, No! No finger pointing. I'm just curious. The board has changed a lot since I first joined so I am just interested to see what the "popular opinion" is right now.

  • I chose everything. You GP mamas are really an inspiration. Especially those who have struggled or who have suffered a loss. It really lifts my spirits and hopes that I can get my BFP!
  • So much love for the GP mamas!!! I love to here all they have to share!!!

  • I voted #1 because hearing about GP mamas gives me a lot of hope. It gives me an outlook at what I can look forward to.
  • My answer would be the same before/after my BFP:

Doctors Appointments & U/S Pics but the regular updates about when their appts are and what names their considering is staring to bother me.

ditto, esp people I have no idea who they are?

  • First, I missed you Monkey!  Second, I chose 1 because I love seeing everything.  However, my perspective is coming from someone who is just starting ttc and I can empathize with those who have been trying longer and might be a little more sensitive to the subject.

  • Honestly, I love the GP Mamas and want them to stick around. I enjoy their posts 90% of the time, but when one person posts about 5-6 posts in a day AW different things about their pregnancy, it can be pretty hard to take especially for people that are going through a rough time.

That said, you'll never make everyone happy.

  • As a newbie, I am still stumpbling around. I love hearing all the stories, the fun stuff, the doctors appointments, pics and the BFP's. I definitely don't want the GP mama's to leave because they do have a lot of information that is helpful which they share.

Although personally I have not been trying long enough to get discouraged, I can see how some people might have a hard time with all the BFP's but then aren't we all supposed to support each other, share in the joy and the pain?!

As far as complaining goes: yes sometimes there is a lot of it but I am guilty of it myself! This board is a wonderful place to vent! haha

This was a great idea! Thank you!

We think alike. Before I post anything I ask myself if what I am typing is something I would have responded to before my BFP with "Ask someone who's pregnant!" If I get past that I figure it should be okay to post!

  • I will be completely honest about this subject. I love Thursdays seeing the belly pics and hearing updates and all that pg stuff throughout the week. Seeing Monkey, MSC and mandee get BFP was by far the most hope inspiring thing that has ever happened to me, but with that being said it does become too much for me when AF arrives so I stay off the boards, cry and come back after mourning another cycle.

That being said I think it is fine the GP mamas post on this board and if someone can't handle it take a few days off from the bump and come back when they are ready. I just hope the the GP mamas remember what it was like to be in our shoes.

I agree with this and try to respect it.  There are other places to talk about the other stuff, like in a blog, where people are free to follow or not and it's not an overkill.

  • I try not to post much about Henry or my pregnancy but I will chime in when others bring up topics or questions I think I can contribute to.

With that being said I think there are a few people who AW their pregnancies multiple times a day and I can see how that can be upsetting to those still TTC...I know it

  • I voted for 'anything and everything' primarily because I love hearing the good news, and sharing in/praying about anything bad, especially if it's someone I've come to know/recognize in my admittedly short time here.

Secondly, the vast majority of the GP Mamas are sensative to everyone's feelings, mainly because they either suffered TTC or knew someone who did.

And frankly, if it's not a BFP I recognize and/or I'm not in the mood to be all congratulatory, I just don't open the post or reply.

I picked the first one. If you don't like it, don't read it. I like reading about the GP Mommas. It's not like there is a limited amount of posts allowed in one day they are taking up.

  • I like the GP Mamas and all posts for two reasons:

    1) You are proof it can and does happen even after m/c and lots of long cycles. Also, you still appreciate what is is to be TTC, and can still answer the inane questions we newbies post.

    2) You're lovely people and I would be sad if I had to search through the other boards to see how you're doing and read your little gems of wisdom. I like to get the news on GP where I don't have to read posts from some dithering bimbo who magically got pregnant the second after she took her last bcp.

Besides, you shouldn't feel alienated. We all want to be mamas soon, and we'll need your advice and stories when we get there too.

  • I'm not sure why this has become such a big deal.  If it was for TTC women ONLY then it should be called TTC ONLY.  What about all the TTA woman who happen to be on here...should they have to leave and go to a non-TTC panel instead?  Or someone who lost a pregnancy and doesn't want to hear about someone's BFP that day or even about them having sex that night because they got a postive temp indicator or whatever.  And if you like the people on the board, and they like to hear about your wonderful baby news...they should be allowed to do that on any board they want.  Granted they may get responses they don't like as the same goes for people being able to respond or say what they want.  But to force women out because they are pregnant already is insane!  PUBLIC board Ladies.  That includes all the wonderful PG women who started out trying on this site just like you and had better not leave because of some whining!

  • I voted for 2nd one (updates but please do not complain)  Save that for tri boards.
