no, not at all. I think it's better to  have your child grow up in the same bubble you are living in!  lolkldjfkdl

  • They were talking about a teacher who got in trouble somewhere for giving her opinion on Darwinism.. I wasn't paying attention at the begining.

But they were saying that both ideas should be taught in school (Darwinism theory, creation theory..)

Elizabeth said that she prob. won't teach her kids about Darwinism, b/c that is not her belief, Sherri said she will teach both, but explain creation is her belief

Joy said because Darwinism has "scientific proof" that if we do not talk to our kids about Darwinism and only teach our belief about creation, then we are abusing our kids. She said "I stand by that belief"

I do want her to grow up in "the same bubble as me".  I want her be raised with the same beliefs I have.

I will explain the diff. theories to her, and explain to her why I believe what I do, and pray she makes the right decision.

  • You know its a TV show, right?  And part of her job is to stir the pot.

but you just said you were NOT going to teach about darwinism, but you will 'explain' them?  isnt this the same? or will you mention darwin with a look of disgust and an eyeroll lol.

and what is this 'pray' she makes the right decision? if she decides to believe in darwin will you disown her? lol

One is a scientific theory, the other is a religious philosophy. Geeze lousie, there should be no debate on which doesn't belong in a science class.

    Darwinism isn't theory...it's science.

Your right I did.  I won't really explain it to her with disgust, but I will tell her what it is, and that I don't believe in it.

When I say I pray she makes the right decision, I pray that she decides to believe in what the Bible says.

If she doesn't believe what I believe, I will be dissapointed, not gonna lie.. Will I disown her? Absolutely not! I will just keep praying that one day she will change her beliefs.. but I will love her no matter what her decisions in life are

    Thanks, you made my day.

  • Mod, what would you do if your son became a Christian? And his beliefs were completely opposite of yours?

I'm not asking to be mean, I'm really wondering if you would be ok with your son having differnt beliefs as you

exactly.  Evolution is not just a theory, its a scientific fact. I wouldn't call it child abuse of course but I definately think kids should learn about evolution in school and understand that creationism is a religious belief of SOME people. PS, can't christians believe in both (i.e. God created everything in a long time, not in the literal 7 days).

I Christian, and a scientist, and I agree. If you want religious learning to take place, send your kid to private school.

Since when are Christianity and science mutually exclusive?

  • PS, can't christians believe in both (i.e. God created everything in a long time, not in the literal 7 days). THIS!!!!

growing up, my pastor believed in evolution.  and i am lutheran, not some really super liberal religion.  i am SO AMUSED by the born-again, evangelical way of taking everything in the bible literally.  being christian does not mean you have to just pretend proven facts are not proven facts.

They don't have to be, but I was asking Mod how would she feel about her son having diff. beliefs as her.
