Trying to Get Pregnant

Please help.

I stopped BCP's in October.  I am not trying to get pregnant but my husband and I are using a fairly loose BC method - the pull out method.  My last 4 cycles have been 27, 28, 28 and 29 days long.  This cycle, I am now on day 40 with no AF in sight.  I took a test on day 34 and day 36 and got BFN's.  I have seen a lot of people say that their cycles got crazy after BCP's so my questions is how long would you wait to call the doc?  Is it safe to just relax and assume that this is my body adjusting to not having the BCP?  Btw, I know that people suggest that stress can make this happen but I really, really don't feel that that can possibly be the problem.  TIA

Re: Please help.

  • Just wait for another week or two and then take another test. If it's a BFN wait another week or 2 and take another one.  One you get to 60 days without a period call your Dr.

  • I stopped BC the first of October and I had 4 fairly normal cycles, then it shot up to 43 days then 34 and now its back to normal. It takes time to regulate. It will probably work itself out but if you get to 60, like the others said call your Dr. Good luck.

Well while I wouldn't call that a BC method, she seems to know she can get pregnant doing it.  That's better than my friend who thought her and her boyfriend were totally safe doing it. Confused

Yes, as I said, it is a "loose" method.  I know that we are taking a risk but we are not trying to get pregnant.

  • If you're not charting, there's no way to know when/if you ovulated, and no way to know if you are "late."

  • I would remember to breath and just wait it out. I had a couple normal cycles (2 or 3 if I remember correctly) and then I went into 60+ days for a while.  I charted the whole time so it was much easier for me. If you lurk on here you've heard the book TCOYF (taking charge of your fertility if you don't lurk) and you can chart to avoid or at least chart to know you ovulated and know your period is on its way.
