I have twins in my family. On my mother's AND father's side. And I'm not sure if it matters, but I think my baby's father's mother is a twin. I can't confirm that with him because he left 2 weeks ago and I don't have contact with him (that's another story). Anyway, I'm getting big and I'm only 8 weeks. It could be bloat, but it doesn't look like other people's bloat. It looks like people's baby bellies. I'm 8 weeks today. Has anyone else had twins or is pregnant with twins now?? I'm just worried about two because I'm going to be a single mommy...
Re: I'm kinda worried about twins...
I don't have much to say in the way of twins, but I just wanted to wish you luck. And, I just have to say, I have a friend who is also a single mom to twins, and yes, it's hard work, but she does it, and you can too, and she wouldn't give ANY of it up for the world!

The father of the baby has nothing to do with twins--either YOU release multiple eggs or you don't.
Try not to worry about it until you get an ultrasouns--the chances are really slim.
Not correcting, just asking. What about identical twins, where it was one egg that split?
Yeah I was about to say that doesn't take into account identical twins.
I wish you the best of luck. Babies are blessings and if you're having twins, think of it as being doubly blessed.

Well there's your problem. ?It sounds like you are falling victim to the problem of self-diagnosing. ?I'm sure I'm not the only one who has also thought "Man, I am way too huge for this to be just one tiny baby"- and yet it is! ?There is no way for you to know you are having twins until you have that u/s on Tuesday.
Sooo....for your own safety:
Step away from the computer! ?
Cease googling such terms as:
twins, multiple birth, what do twins feel like?, being pregnant with twins....etc. etc. etc.?
My understanding is fraternal twins is the only (possible) genetic way a twin can hapen and identical is not based on genetics its sort of a freak accident.
As pp said fraternal twins is b/c mom dropped too many eggs. Also i read once that this genetic trait for twins can only be passed from mom to daughter in other words your mom would have to pass the twin trait to you. It has to do with hyperovulation. and this gene only pass woman to woman. so some female on your side has to have had twins.
i looked this up b/c my brothers are fraternal twins and i wanted to know my chances of having fraternal twins as well. Apparently if i understand correctly i have a greater chance of having fraternal twins than someone whos moms/aunts did not have any fraternal twins.
I know how you feel i am only 11 weeks and feel giant. We are assuming there is only 1 baby in there hahaha and i am just a bloated mess! I wish you the best of luck.. and try not to stress about it. like pp said what ever happens you willlove 1 or both just the same!

This is not true. Your father can pass on the gene to you.
And a woman can be a hyperovulater without any genetic history: case in point me.
The only way to tell if you are having twins is through an u/s. I was no larger then my regular old self that early. I didn't even really have bloat. Some women have more intense m/s etc. But then you can't even be sure about that. Betas also don't tell you anything.
I was really worried about having twins at first too, but have gotten used to the idea. I do have my dh to help but I also kind of figure God won't give you more than you can handle. But don't worry until you know for sure.
Im 8 weeks also and look like Im 5 months prego...I too worry about that because twins run in our family. We don't have our ultrasound for 2 more weeks but all you can do is wait and see. I know it will be hard with two, Ive been there done that 2, not twins, and being a single mom, and ended up pregnant with twins before this pregnancy but that is a totally different story. lol...He left too...So I feel your pain. I wish you the best of luck. Im huge too and my appetite is HUGE also. We would be excited about twins but understand your situation. Good luck and keep us posted on what the ultrasound turns out!
Fraternal twins occur when more than one egg is released during ovulation. This trait can be inherited from the mother's side of the family.
