I was responding to someone's comment about my registry frustration below, and it got me thinking about my wedding registry. Did people actually buy from your wedding registry? I was amazed at some of the gifts people bought us for our wedding that we not on the registry. The worst by far was a birdhouse made out of license plates! At the time, we were living in a tiny condo in the middle of downtown.
You?
Re: What's the worst wedding gift you received?
We got a lot of random stuff. One aunt gave us a ton of mini booze glasses (wine, snifters, shot glasses, etc) that were obviously just sitting around her house - no box, no tags, just dust. We don't drink alcohol. At all.?
Another relative got us wine glasses with glass blown fish attached to them, because, and I quote, "you like animals". Same relative also got us a big Swarovski knockoff rabbit with red eyes. DH and I joke that it's a statue of the Monty Python bunny, because it looks evil. Again, because we like animals. Very odd.?

we got an Irish wedding blessing silver plate.... it was a Greek wedding and DH is Italian. hmmmm
on a side note... send ME that bird house, i have been looking for a unique one to hang outside my window. we just moved form the city to a rural town and there are birds everywhere!!!! HA!
One of those weird faceless statuettes from Hallmark. If I remembered the name of the line I would post a link, but I can't remember. Just not our style at all. It went to goodwill.
The 4 Waterford glasses that didn't match our crystal pattern (and Macy's didn't carry) were nice, but kind of random.
I think the worst gifts were the NO GIFTS. We didn't get gifts from ANY of DH's immediate family. Not his mom, sister, other sister, brother, cousins, step-mom, grandma, etc. Actually out of 75 people, we got gifts from maybe 1/4 of them.
Worst part about it (which I am still bitter about), is that 75% of our guest list was DH's family and we did it in their town (San Fran) so that they wouldn't have to travel far. We also paid for the hotels rooms for his Mom and Grandma for 2 nights, even though they live close, because his Mom felt like she would be left out since she recently divorced from his Dad and didn't bring a date. My whole family flew in from all over the country (and my friends), but somehow they all managed to give gifts. Uggh DH immediate family = tacky and rude. Luckily my DH agrees.
Oh and NO, people didn't buy from registry. I didn't even have a shower, so we bought everything ourselves. After our wedding we thought we'd have a ton of cards w/ checks, but only had FIVE cards in the box. We seriously thought someone stole our cards, since there were so few. Nope, no-one stole them... there weren't anymore.
I just realized that my best friend didn't get us anything, even though she told me after the wedding she was planning on completing our Macys registry. If it were anyone else I'd be upset, but she's so selfish and wrapped up in her own world that I don't care. I still know she loves me. She just has a hard time thinking of other people!
I think you're talking about Willow Tree statues... I love those!! LOL one person's trash is another person's treasure.
