So get this one guys. Some backstory: FIL and MIL have been separated for 3 years, mostly because of FILs infidelity over their 30 year marriage. MIL had finally had enough. So FIL moves back to Trinidad with his family, and has moved his girlfriend in with them. When we were there 2 months ago he didn't stay there out of respect for MIL, SIL, and DH (this is the home where his children were raised, for goodness sakes -- built and designed brick-by-brick by grand FIL). I met the girlfriend while we were there. I thought she was OK but I didn't think it was serious. Well DH gets a call today from SIL. Apparently Grand FIL's girlfriend called her to let her know that FIL's girlfriend is pregnant!!!!! This woman is at least in her late forties and has grown children of her own. And FIL is a notorious partier. Come to find out FIL has been dealing with this woman for years and she wants to marry him, so supposedly she got pregnant on purpose. DH and SIL are livid, of course. They might have a new brother or sister coming and they are 32 and 27 years old! FIL is turning 60 this year! So DH wants to fight for custody of the child b/c MIL lives with SIL and DH can't imagine the insult of MIL having to raise her husband's bastard. Trinidad is still a 3rd world country, albeit one of the better Carribean countries economy-wise, but Grand FIL is pretty wealthy there. So then DH brings up how this child could stake a claim to what is rightfully Judah's (he is the last of their bloodline -- DH was the last until we had a son). I feel like I'm living in medieval times! lol There is all this jockeying for position and who is going to be the rightful heir. What a mess!
Re: I feel like Anne Boleyn! Re: family drama
ok...I understand....can you say the relations between people more carefully? So MIL is still married to FIL who has a GF who is pg?
Grand FIL's GF told your DH's mom about the pregnancy?
I get the gist, but I want to understand it all! OH and I love the Anne Boleyn reference. Its my favorite kind of historical fiction
