I need bridal shower ideas people

I am the only bridesmaid in my friend's last minute wedding.  She told me about it about a month ago and I decided to give her a shower this weekend.  Since the wedding is small and only close friends and immediate families are invited - there will only be 8-10 women at the shower.

I am having it at a local coffee shop that my friend loves - they have a private room you can rent out.  I am thinking about having them do a tray of wraps and salads for the food.

Besides a cake, what else do I need to do?  Any ideas for a not-so-cheesy game that would be appropriate for that amount of people?  Should I decorate?  What would you do for favors?

Help.  I don't have the energy to do this.

  • I have nothing to offer, but if you need dress advice ask Merks.
  • Loading the player...
  • I'd skip the game.

But if you really want to do it, put a list of celebrity moms down one side and a list of baby names on the other ... you have to match which goes with who.

    Keep it simple.

  • Since its small, games could be fun but don't go overboard... maybe the "purse" game?  Write down things that women keep in their purses like lipstick, a pen, cell phone, brush, etc then put down off the wall things like a condom or a pair of panties just to spice things up.  The girl who finds the object the fastest and who does it the most # of times, wins...  cheesy, but has always been fun to play...  Also, if you come up with facts about the bride to ask her guests, its fun to see who knows her the best...

Decorate with flowers.  A nice centerpiece for the table and maybe a framed photo of the happy couple.

No need for a bunch of decorations just get balloons . . .  and for favors how much do you want to spend?  I can come up with a few ideas but it depends on what you're willing to spend on them .. . oh wait its only 10 people or so . . .  I have a pic of what I did for my SIL baby shower and I think it'll work out just as well!!

  • i like the "how well do you know the bride" trivia.  It's super easy and not embarrassing/cheesy.  And I think the food sounds perfect.  Low key sounds like the way to go.
  • for my baby shower my aunt got a cute notebook and passed it around and asked everyone to write their advice in there. It was really nice to read after all the advice on motherhood. I think the same could be done for a wedding, it would be nice to read marriage/relationship advice too.
  • We did a fun game at one of my showers where my dh had been asked a bunch of questions about me and I had to try and guess what the answer he gave was, like the newly wed game. The guests had to say if I was going to get it right or wrong and they would get candy for each correct guess

These look more difficult than they actually are:  Make Chocolate lolli pops (you can decorate if you want . . . I used candy that came in a tube that you put in hot water to make it melty and squirt it out)

use some of the green spongey stuffy and put it in tiny flower pots, they also make markers that specifically write on said flower pots!

Great idea beany.  They are really cute.

Thanks for all of the ideas.  I feel a little better now, like I am starting to have a plan.  I am SUCH a procrastinator.

  • When I hosted my friend's bridal shower we didn't do a game, we just got a picture of herself and her fiance and put their faces on popsicle sticks.  She than had to use the sticks to act out how they met and how he proposed for everyone.
