tonight is the first time we're leaving DS with a babysitter other than family, and we're taking him to her house. she's in her 50s and a former coworker of mine. she has her own grandkids, and i trust her completely.
she'll need to give DS dinner and get him ready for bed, because we probably won't be back until late.
i know he will probably only need 1 bottle, but i was probably going to pack an extra, just in case, and of course food that i know won't be a struggle for her--one of his favorites. i know of course diapers, etc. etc.
but should i take him in his pjs or regular clothes so she can do his bedtime routine (minus bath), like lotion, pjs, story or is that too much to expect? should i pack the blanket he sleeps with (not a lovey, just afghan he covers up with)? extra toys besides the ones she has, etc?
Re: first time with babysitter--what to pack?
I'd pack PJs and familiar toys/blankets, if that is what DS is used to. Sure, new toys are always fun and exciting, but there is something to be said for comfort items at ANY age, especially this young. An extra bottle is a good idea; I'd probably do that, too. As for his routine--you are paying her to watch your child, right? So I'd say anything within reason that makes both their nights (and yours, really) easier should be done. Bedtime stories are not too much to ask.

i would pack pjs, book and blanket just so he has some familiar stuff around when he sleeps. I don't think it's too much to ask to have her go through his routine with him.
yay for date night
I would take his pjs with you, and the other stuff you listed.
In my experience, the people who want to babysit DD LOVE to do the lotion, story, etc. My mom lives for it, and our friends do too. I would bring a couple of his toys that he likes, an extra bottle, more diapers and wipes than he could possibly use.
I would definitely pack an extra bottle or two just in case. I would take him in his regular clothes and pack the pjs so that she can do his bedtime routine. He will probably be overwhelmed at first, so the routine will help him feel more at ease. Definitely pack the blanket he sleeps with - another familiar item that will help him feel comfortable. I'd also pack a couple favorite toys, but that's just me.
