  Jake gets those when he has a fever or is teething... BEST thing ever-- Herpsin L - looks like a chapstick. Put it on as ofter as you can think about it and it'll stop it from getting worse and heal within a wk or less.

  Some people say abreva works, but DS screams when I try to use it- I think it burns him...

  Ugh!  I get them occasionally and I hate it b/c I can't kiss my baby!

  I use Abreva OTC which is pricey but WORTH IT.  It will cut the healing in time in half at least!

  If it's a bad one I'll call in a prescription for Valtrex which will wipe it out in about 2 days.

  This post caught me so off guard. After the HIV post I wasn't sure where this was going. Lol.

  I would try one of those otc meds like herpecin or there's this other one I've seen in a blue box and can't remember the name. I haven't had a cold sore since I was young so I don't even remember what else you could do.

  I use Abreva & I think it works wonders.  It has never burned when applying it, even after the cold sore has opened up.  If I get the Abreva on when I first feel the tingling typically the cold sore doesnt even really "pop up".

  What ever you do- Abreva or Valtrex- the meds work best if they are started ASAP.
