One of my good friends has a little boy who is turning two. We were talking about BF (b/c she did for the first year) and I was asking her for tips and advice. She said one of her moms friends told her 2 months before she was due that everytime she takes a shower, take a wash cloth and scrub your nipples. Not hard or anything that will hurt or make them bleed but kinda rough them up a bit. She took her advice and she said she her nipples never cracked, they never bleed, she never had to use any creams, and she never had any pain at all. I plan on trying this since everyone I talk to says BF is very hard and painful. It's worth a shot right?
Re: Best BF advice ever!
most pros say it doesn't benefit you in any way to do that - unless you want sore nipples.

I did nothing to prep my nips and I never had a problem with craking, bleeding or soreness. A lot of women do have issues in the begining, but I don't think you scrubbing them before hand is going to do anything. Plus too much nipple stimulation can sometimes be a way to induce labor.
BFing will hurt if your baby is not latched properly. If you have a good latch than you should not have any pain.
I know this sounds like it makes sense to try, but nips are a sensitive area and some people are going to have more pain then others, there is not a whole lot you can do to prevent it.
