what should I do?

So on Tuesday one of the big bosses in our company came to me and asked me to take on a new position.  This position will put me in management, make me salary and give me an increase in pay including bonuses.  However I love love love my job right now.  I don't know if the money is completely worth possibly hating a job.  Any thoughts?

IMO - It is more important to be happy than to make a lot of money. If you and DH live comfortably now and you are happy then I would stay were you are.

For me, honestly, it would probably come down to how much money difference it is. Also, is there overtime with the new position? b/c usually salaried positions don't pay you for OT. Just something else to consider

We are comfortable now, I think my only fear is that my DH is an electrician and right now they are running out of work for a little while until some bigger jobs start up in summer.  So the money would be great for us if he would lose his job or something, however I feel the same way.  Not many people can say they love going to work most days and right now I can.  It is such a hard decision.

I have considered that too.  Luckily I work in banking so we are only open so many hours a day.  Even if I worked overtime it wouldn't be that much.  I am scheduled to meet with the District Manager soon to discuss exactly how much money.

    Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Do you aspire to move up the ladder? If so maybe a good opportunity to see how it goes.

Do you have an reason to suspect you'll hate it?

It would put me back into the branches.  I left the branches 6 months ago because I was tired of the sales goals and the stress of meeting them.  Right now I am an Operational Specialist which means I am in charge of getting 4 branches ready for their audits.  No sales involved.  If I took the new position I would have a broader sales goal but I would still have that stress again.

What are the things you like about your current job?  Do you think there would be similarities in the new position?  It sounds like it's with the same company... is the major new element the fact that it is management?  That can certainly be more stressful, but maybe some of the things you love about your current job will translate.

If it were me, I'd make a pro and con list, writing down every possible benefit and drawback of each job (both personally and professionally).  Writing things down like that often makes things clear for me.

Got ya. If you don't like working on sales targets/goals.......than I see why you might consider not doing it.

I have started doing this.  I think I am going to take my concerns up with the manager that is offering me the position and see if he thinks they are concerns that are relevant.  Keep your fingers crossed.

ah ok. I would hate sales so I hear ya there. But its not commission based? I think if I were you I'd lean towards keeping my current job, but I always have a price so if the money was good enough...

I would vote for the feeling of having a not so stressful job.  It is a big decision and I wish you luck.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.  Sometimes it is easier to see through the eyes of someone unbiased (sp?).  It is getting late for me ( I am getting old I assume) so I am heading to bed.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.  I just want to make the right decision for My husand, the family I hope to have and of course for myself as well.  Nighty night.

I would say, If you are happy where you are then stay. But the money is always nice. Maybe do it the good old way- Make a list pros and cons see what fits for you! :)

EDIT- I should have read the rest of the posts...
