Babymoons!

Are you going on a babymoon?  Where is your destination?

DH and I have had quite a few conflicting moments as of late but we've decided to put aside a weekend in May to stay at the Hilton in Sonoma Wine Country.  And I will be bringing my own two bottles of Sparkling Apple Cider to enjoy, as long as they can supply the glass flutes for me. Smile

Re: Babymoons!

  • We are looking at 1 week in Hawaii, details still to be decided.

  • We are taking a babymoon in a few weeks to the gulf coast of Florida. We go every year but we are still calling it a babymoon :) Just going earlier this year before I get too humongous with these 2 babies on board!

  • We will likely be going to Moab (Utah - Zions Nat'l Park) for camping in the next few weeks.  So awesome - there are camping sites where the ground is sandy like the beach and you can camp barefoot, build a fire, dutch oven cooking.  So nice...

  • We are going to Vancouver, BC for a week and we'll see Dane Cook while we're there (I think he's hilarious!).  I'm really excited.

  • Actually, my husband and I won a raffle at my work, so we get a weekend's stay in the penthouse at a resort near us. We haven't scheduled it yet, but that's our plan. Sound so relaxing!
  • Nope. We already have a baby, so no moon for us. More like sod to plant grass in our front and back yard, LOL.
  • We went to Costa Rica last month (my pic is from there), and we are having our 5 year anniversary this summer so hoping for another quick get away, just the two of us in June.

That sounds like fun.  But when you mentioned "dutch oven", I flashed back to when my DH would fart under the blankets and stick my head under there to suffocate.... yeah... he called it the dutch oven.  Nice.

Oooo I know exactly where you're talking about!  It looks so cute.  We did Calistoga a couple of years ago, but at Golden Haven Spa.  Did the whole mud bath thing.  I wish it was safe to take a mud bath now!

  • Every year a group of us go camping way down the beach in Corpus, I haven't been in two years though (my DH always goes).  Everyone is trying to get me to go though.  I will be almost 7 mo preg. and my 20 mo would have to go.  I think I will pass, it is roughing it, no restrooms, running water, 100+ degree weather, we usually don't even sleep in tents, and I am allergic to sunscreen so I always burn severely.  So no getaway this year.
  • We had a cruise booked for the western carribbean next week, but my Dr. made me cancel it this week.  SUCKS.  Now we are thinking about renting  a cabin on a lake in Tennessee.

  • We are going (in a week!) to Rochester, NY, where my husband's family lives. Haven't seen them in 2 years, and with baby coming we would not be able to get up there again for another year. It will be exciting for me, because the food there is amazing! I just want to be eating the whole time... but we're going to hike and see the beautiful lakes and such around there too!

  • we *were* thinking of going to Paris (our former Honeymoon destination before i found out my due date), but then we started eating into that fund.

we are going to Edmonton (my ol' hometown) for a family reunion in June/Julyish, and i think that'll be our only actual trip before the baby comes.

    whoo! ?

  • when I was 10 wks we went to Maui.  We were already sort of planning, and when we found out we were PG we decided we had to go.  We went there for our honeymoon and babymoon!  It was beautiful!
  • I guess my vacation could be considered a babymoon.  DH and I are leaving for Orlando on Saturday for amusement park fun at Disney World and Sea World.  No roller coasters for me, but I'll hit whatever ride does not have a "not safe for pregnant women" warning.

  • Man, lots of exotic destinations... we're just planning to get a cabin on the lake in Door County, WI for a week or so in June. I don't want to fly (have done enough of that this pregnancy and it just ain't fun), and we're on a bit of a budget, so figured that would be a nice compromise.

  • We were talking about going to Aruba, but DH is trying to accrue as much time off as possible so he can stay home with me for a while after the baby is born. We may just rent a cabin in the mountains for a weekend, which sounds like heaven to me right now. We know someone who does cabin rentals in Gatlinburg, so we'll be able to get a little bit of a discount, and it's not more than an hour from where we live, but still we'd be secluded.
  • We did a week in Mexico in January. We booked it before our BFP but I was 6/7 weeks when we went.
  • We're headed to NYC at the end of May for our one year anniversary trip.  I guess you can call it a babymoon too.  It wasn't my original plan for a "babymoon" - I'd want something more relaxing and maybe beachy, but we have never been and it will be fun trip nonetheless -- plus it's something I can "do" with no limitations.  I might still try to talk DH into going to the gulf coast for a weekend sometime over the summer - I need beach time at least once a year.
  • We went to Ireland for a nice long weekend (4 nights) and just got back on Monday.  It was great!  Hope to have some time at the beach over the summer too...
  • Do yourself a favor and hit up the Dean and Deluca in Napa and pick up VIgnette- they are non-alcoholic sodas made from wine grapes-totally yummy!

?We booked out babymoon last week...before the crazy Swine Flu talk and of course- we chose cancun. It's not late summer, so I'm just hoping the hoopla dies down.?

  • We want to go away, but dont want to go anywhere with a beach honestly, cause... well u get it. Bathing suit isnt exactly what I want to wear at this point.  My parents have a house in the mountains upstate NY. Very secluded, but relaxing. Or maybe Florida.

That wine-grape soda sounds too damn good - I will definitely add that to the agenda.  Be super careful in Cancun... isn't that where the NY students got sick?

babsrut - lucky!!  I am fascinated with Irish stuff and have always wanted to go there!

  • Were going to Maui in June for a week. Im soo excited!
  • We are going to Phoenix and driving to the Grand Canyon.  Then staying a few nights in Sedona.  It's just going to be a long weekend.  5 days, 4 nights.

  • We went to Ireland in January for a babymoon. We are also planning on going to a resort in Lake Geneva in May.
  • We did a cruise when I was 15 weeks to the Bahamas.
  • We're going to Seattle for a few days, then Tokyo for a week.  It's actually a super belated honeymoon, but it might as well be a babymoon now.

  • We are thinking about going to Santa Barbara for the weekend sometime in July for our 1 year anniversary (where we had our honeymoon), but we'll see if I can hold on to the money long enough.
