Trying to Get Pregnant

Serum Progesterone testing

I just talked to my Dr. and he thinks I am not ovulating because my cycles are 40ish days long (I know it's not that long compared to others).  He feels like I am not ovulating (per my charts I am).  I did mention I was charting and it shows I am ovulating.  Dr. did not seem too convinced.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Should I just go along with the testing or should I be looking for a new OB?  I really have like him and used him when I had DS.  Thoughts?

TIA

Re: Serum Progesterone testing

  • I would be getting a second opinion before I had any testing done that may be completely unnecessary!

  • Do you have more than just that chart in your link available?  It gave you crosshairs, but that third day dips a bit.  It's within the limits as far as I've read up on it, but I don' t know.

If I were you, I'd chart another cycle, and if it wasn't a clearer three day spike, I'd get the tests done.  but, that's because I'm a worrywart.

  • Maybe I misread, but did your doctor say you are not ovulating JUST because your cycles are 40 days long? Or did he give you another reason why he suspects that.  If you are comfortable with him and confident in his level of care, AND you would be willing to submit to potentially unnecessary testing, then I say stick with him.   Good luck! • Here is my one other chart (I just started charting 2 cycles ago)... The open circles and missing temps are due to having a 1 1/2 year old that doesn't always sleep through the night...

Pretty much he felt like I was not ovulating because I had longer cycles.  I am not sure if my IUD removal, TTC 6 months and not KU, or that I was KU with DS quicker has anything to do with his decision.  I guess I need to call him back and ask more questions.
