how long did it take for the pitocin to kick in and for things to happen? My good friend is being induced today and I'm on pins & needles. She's being induced because of complications with the baby and I'm just so worried for them.
They started my induction due to Jake not moving much, and being 'stressed' around 1ish, by two I was dilating and contractions, but Jake's heartbeat started dropped and he was born at 2:34 by e-c/s.
For me, the minute they flipped the switch on the pitocin, the contractions were really strong (and painful). My water had broken on it's own previously, though, and I was having mild contractions prior to the pitocin. I was given the pitocin at about noon, started pushing about three hours later, and she was born a little over an hour after that.
I hope everything is okay with your friend and baby!
I got pitocin at 9pm...and by midnight I was in sooo much pain. by around 3pm I was fully dialated but A wouldn't come down. I was at 38 weeks. By 8pm...he was out by c-section!
I was induced with DS. I went in already having contractions and progress. I can't really say what effect the pit had on my progression of labor. Alls I know is that once they broke my water it was ON after that. That's when the hard contractions started kicking myass. Thank God for narcotics and epis! I got pit at 6, am water broken at 8 and was pushing by 1 or 2....C Section at 5 pm. GL to your friend!
Re: If you were induced...
My contractions started almost immediately. DD was born less than 6 hours after they hooked me up.
It didn't.
After 8 hours on Pit, I had still not effaced or dilated at all.I had a c/s.
