Pregnant after a Loss

My OB is going out of town!

Argh! I am so frusterated!

At my 38 week appt. this morning, I found out that my doctor is going to be going out of town for 2 different conferences in the next couple weeks! So she is going to be gone for the majority of time between now and my due date!

I am NOT a happy camper! I want to go home and burrow under the covers in frustration.

  • That sucks. Does she have other docs in her practice? If so, have you met any of them?

I live in a fairly rural area, so there are 4 clinics in different towns in our hospital system and only 3 ob's. One is a guy, who I met at the childbirth prep class and he was really pushing the epidural (which I want to try to go without). Then there is one other female, and I have never met her.

I'm assuming there are other doctors in the office? Have you been "rotating" and seeing them?? Even if she was here.......there is no guarantee that she would deliver you b/c she may not be on call the day you go in to labor! I know it sucks......but honestly, the OB is literally in the room to "catch" the baby. The nurses do ALL the work.........they are with you the whole time and when they see the head they call in the OB.......or if they need to do a c-section then they call them in to assess and then obviously they are with you for the c-section.

    GL!

There are 2 other OB's who have priviledges at my hospital, but my doctor is the only Ob for my clinic and another clinic in the next town, and doesn't rotate with any other doctors. She always delivers for her patients and is considered "on-call" at all times.

She did say she would put in a request that the other female OB is called if I go in, instead of the epi-pusher... so I am grateful for that.

  • Oh, that sucks Rose I'm sorry :(  Hopefully Levi decides to come on a day she's in town??
  • Boo, I'm so sorry!  My OB will be out during weeks 37-39 for me, so I'm pretty much screwed too, blah.  Hopefully you'll get lucky and she'll be there.
