if you know any, do you know if their mother was breastfeeding when she conceived? i just can't imagine how that happens all that often with women who are BF.

I have a twin brother. When we were 7 months old my mom got PG with our younger brother. So she had 3 kids under 2! I should probably mention that my mom family is actually Irish-American (her mother's mother immigrated from Cork). LOL! My mom was a young mom (had us just shy of her 20th birthday and my brother at 21) and obviously, was quite fertile. She had her tubes tied after that.
What do you mean you can't conceive how it happens? Some people actually want their children close together. I'm the youngest of 5 and there are 7 years between me and my oldest brother. Our whole family is one big set of Irish twins.
Perhaps you should have lurked on Irish Twins day.

A friend of mine got pregnant when her 1st son was 5-6 weeks old. She may have been breastfeeding, but I don't think so, I think she was also just plain dumb and didn't think she'd get pregnant so soon after giving birth. Her sons are 10 months apart. Then she had a daughter about 2 years later with her boyfriend...her husband has the 2 sons and her and her bf have the daughter.
My SIL got pg breast feeding twins...so she was breast feeding all the time, though I think they were sleeping through the night so that really doesn't count as exclusive.
breast feeding as BC is only reliable when the child is less than 6 months, you are breast feeding exclusively, and you have not had a period. All three of these things must occur for it to be over 90% effective.
PS~it's not an OWT. There are medical reasons why women won't conceive while BF'ing, but like most things it's not 100% and has to be "used" correctly.

you misunderstood what i wrote. i want my kids to be close together, too.
when you're breastfeeding, it is supposed to naturally delay your period and therefore ovulation. obviously, with a lot of people it doesn't happen that way but with some women (even those who don't breastfeed) it takes a long time for their periods to regulate and to ovulate again.
what i said is that it seems unlikely that a woman who is breastfeeding could get pregnant so soon after giving birth. not that it's impossible, but it doesn't seem like it would happen that often.
