Doing the AF happy dance!

I am inordinately excited.

I have had awesome suppression of menses with this child of mine--I am 19 months PP and have not resumed cycling.  While this 2.5 year break since my last period has been like a fabulous vacation, there will come a point in the next several months where I think we'll want to start thinking about trying for #2.

Well, today I think I am finally having the faintest of spotting, and now a little bit of cramps.  CRAMPS!  Who would have thought that this would get me so excited.

I'm so curious what my cycles will be like now--I eat soo much healthier since I'm avoiding dairy and soy for DD's allergies, so I don't eat very much refined sugar or processed food.  I wonder if my periods will be more pleasant now--I've heard that diet can make a difference.

Anyway, I thought I would put my little burst of joy up here on the bfing board, since I think DD's 3-4x a day nursing probably has a lot to do with it.  I don't pump during the day at work anymore, but she does still nurse 1x during the night, as well as a few times in the a.m. and p.m.  I didn't want to have to get into night weaning just to try to get cycling again, so I'm super excited that this may just be happening on its own.

Wheee, fertility!

Re: Doing the AF happy dance!

  • Boo...so since I wrote earlier today, nothing more has come of this.

I wonder now if my body is just ovulating (or trying to).  I did used to have some spotting when I ovulatd...  And a few weeks ago I had a similar thing but where I thought I was maybe ovulating....  So perhaps my body is still gearing up.  Bummer!  I was so excited!  But who knows, maybe tomorrow will bring something more.

Question:  what was your experience with your first AF post partum?  Was it lighter than normal, shorter, or the opposite?  or just normal?

  • Sorry, I'm gonna be absolutely no help. My first pp period came at around 6 weeks and has come every 5 weeks since! I have PCOS so I do know the joy of not having your period for months and months at a time though :) So yeah, my pp periods are the complete opposite of what they were prior to pregnancy.
