im a teacher in a day care and i have one year olds... im taking a few pics of each kid, gluing them onto a paper and putting their hand prints. i got frames from the $ store and writing the kid's name, happy mother's day and the year...you can do something like that but have the kids decorate it? good luck
I did something similar during the holidays. I took 3 pics of each kid.
1.) pointing to their eyes (I)
2.) Hands over heart (Love)
3.) Points to the camera (you)
They decorated frames and then we strung them together with ribbon. They were actually really nice (and they were not religious, and could be given to anyone they loved not just a mom or dad).
My job is to teach them to read and write not to do crafts with them. :::me being bitter and jaded:::
The kindergarten teachers did a really cute idea this year. ?They made a template for a calendar on the computer and had the kids color a picture to go with each month. ?They used the binding machine to put it together like a calendar. ?The teacher modeled a picture scene for each month that most of the kids copied, but they turned out perfect! ?It's a practical gift that mom might actually use!

Funny you mention this...I tried doing this with my team and my principal came after me saying it was wasting too much paper (AND I had already cut it down to put 4 months per page)......::grrr::
But we are making mother's day boquets out of paper and writing something they promise to do for their moms on each stem ("I will make my bed, be nice to my sister, etc.") and we are also making booklets that they have to fill in:
My mom is better than__________ My mom weighs ______ pounds and is _______inches My mom loves it when ________ My mom gets really mad when __________ I love to ________with my mom, etc.
I teach first grade and they always write the cutest things! HTH!

A digital scrap book is what our "big" kids do ever year. They bring in photos on disc and they make a photo story on powerpoint, set to music. It is really sweet, but we an tremendous access to technology (no black/white boards--only computer screens and 12 laptops per classroom).
very cute idea! We dont have a scanner at our school, but im thinking they can still make a powepoint about how important their moms are and skip the photos. thanks for the idea.
