i HATE facebook chat

and apparently you can't turn it off. it seems like every time i check my facebook for a couple of minutes, i hear that stupid +pop+ sound and then i have to talk to someone. instant messaging was cool in middle school, i don't know why people insist upon doing it now but i feel rude if i just ignore them.

    me too & i always feel awkward getting rid of the person so a lot of times I will quick sign off!

    I can turn mine off.  Just go to the top right corner of the box and click "go offline"

    If you look at the facebook page at the bottom where you online friends are...you should see a little person with a green dot next to him click on that and you should be able to put yourself off line there.  It should remember it too.

    you can go offline and still check facebook. click on the green dot at the bottom of the page near the facebook chat at the bottom of the page.

    in the lower corener where you can see "online friends" there is a box that says you're online...maybe has a green circle. You can select offline or appear offline or something like that.

     I hate that. Just because i'm checking fb does NOT mean i want to talk to you 3rd cousin!

    You can even set it so you ALWAYS appear offline.  I did it.  I recommend it.  ;)

    My facebook world opened up when I learned how to disable chat.  I hated chat.  I get on facebook so I can privately stalk you, not so I can have conversations with you.  Stick out tongue

    ahh thank you. when they first added it, i looked up how to appear offline and it said currently it's not an available option.
