Trying to Get Pregnant

?s about starting to chart

Ok, so the way I figure things I've got about two cycles left before we get married and start TTC.  I was planning on starting to chart this next cycle, which would give me 2 charts of info before we pull the goalie.  But, I'm just thinking (sort of ironically) that charting for the 1st month TTC is going to be quite a hassle (honeymoon, lots of international travel, not to mention lots of time with family and friends) and I don't know if it's going to be realistic.

So what I'm asking is do you think it'll be useful to use the 1st to months of charting to confirm that I actually am O'ing, as well as the approximate timing of O?  Would I be crazy not to chart the cycle after getting married?  Since going off of BCP in October my cycles have ranged from 26-28 days, and I do get what I believe to be (I know there's no way to know for sure without charting) O pain, along with EWCM- so do you think this will be enough?

Re: ?s about starting to chart

  • Personally, I think you should try to keep up with the charting for a number of reasons:

    1. Recognizing CM will get easier

    2. Getting familiar with charts and what they should look like will get easier.

    3. You will make yourself crazy if you don't chart your first cycle TTC.

  • I think it is worth starting to chart even if you don't chart your first cycle TTC. It will certainly help you learn more about yourself and get the nuances of charting under your belt.?

I think you are smart to not chart that first cycle married since it will be so crazy and whirlwind. Plus, I think its less of a big deal because you do want to conceive. If you were TTA, then I would say to def try and chart. ?

    Good luck!?

  • I would keep charting - I know I still kick myself for not charting last cycle (our first cycle TTC)

  • I would start charting just so that you have the practice and get into the routine. Then when it is time to TTC you will be more educated about your cycle.
  • I totally agree with monkey! Also, once you start doing your charting you will find it takes so very little of your time that chances are you will squeeze in a min per day for charting. GL!
  • I think its a good idea to go ahead and chart now and get an understanding of your body/cycle. However, I think trying to chart right after getting married/honeymoon will be difficult and you don't need to add any extra pressure on you and DH right away. GL to you!

This. ? Not charting made it more stressful for me...the constant wondering and guessing. ?

  • I would try to chart, just to get the hang of it, but don't be too hard on yourself if doesn't work out exactly as planned.  You have a lot going on with the wedding/honeymoon, but the sooner you start charting the easier it will be to get into a routine.

  • Thanks for all the advice guys- lots to think about!  Although most people seem to advocate charting over the honeymoon etc., I'll definitely be mulling it over!
  • I'm a little late chiming in on this, but I say charting could only help!  If you feel like you can keep up with it over the honeymoon, great!  It will give you some good info (like the ladies above said) and help you know if/when you are Oing, which will help you plan when you are ready to TTC.

If not, no biggie.  Enjoy your honeymoon and have fun!
