How much napping do you allow your LO to do?

I don't want him to oversleep so that he can sleep tonight, but I also want him to nap b/c he needs to......

I've heard 2 hours?

  • I let him nap as much as he wants, but his naps are usually no longer than 45 min.

  • I let Baby Boy do what he's got to do. I feel like he's little enough that he needs his sleep.

    Am I crazy?

  • How many naps a day were you told LO should have?

  • Mine sleeps WAY more than 2 hours a day!!!  And he does pretty good at night.  But he is also younger than your DS, so maybe that makes a difference.
  • I let my baby sleep whenever she is tired.  She still sleeps about 10 hrs a night.
  • I let DS sleep as long as he wants (needs).
  • I used to let him sleep whenever and as long as he wanted, but that was making for confused days and nights and a grumpy boy.  Now I let him nap for 3 hours max, and then I wake him up (he does this in the morning - usually 11-2) and then he'll take 1-2 more naps throughout the rest of the day, but those are only 30-60 minutes long (he wakes himself up).

Yeah, this is why I was thinking I needed to wake him. We've had some awful nights lately.

  • At that age I think he was napping whenever he wanted/needed to.  At DS's 2 month appointment the pedi said to start working on being 2 hrs up and 2 hrs down.  We still haven't gotten there! But some days we're close.
  • I have found that DD will not sleep good at night if she is overly tired. I let her sleep as much as she wants, some day's it is a lot and others less. I just take it day by day.

  • The more DD naps during the day, the better she sleeps at night. On average she takes 4-5 naps a day. Anywhere from 1-2 hrs.
