So I went to lunch with a couple of collagues of mine today. I was asking the one guy about his family, if he had siblings and stuff. He's like, "Yea, I have a brother who is 10 months older than me." Yikes!!
Can you imagine!!???

I grew up with friends who were EXACTLY 364 days apart. The oldest's birthday is July 17th, and the youngest is July 16th. And that's just unfathomable to me. 10 months is just. . . .I'm not sure I knew that could even happen.
I know someone who's mom got pregnant again right after finding out she was pregnant...
She is gestationally two weeks older than her twin sister. They could tell from the ultrasounds that the 2 babies were in two different sacs and that one was exactly 2 weeks different than the other. Something happened with their placentas where they fused so they have a lot of simliar traits, but they are not identical.
I didn't believe her at first...then she explained...so I guess I believe her. Their doctors said it is extremely rare....but weirdly possible.
My mom is exactly a year and a day older than her younger brother, and then a year after that her other brother was born! My Grandmother had a two year old, a one year old, and a newborn!! Crazy!

.
this seems highly far-fetched - wasn't it pointed out on irish twin day that certain species of the animal kingdom can ovulate once pregnant - but not humans?
Anyway, don't traits come from DNA that is in the embryo? Not from the placenta.
My older sister and I are exactly 11 months apart - my Mom managed to get KU when she was still BFing. We're really close, and I think it's pretty cool when we are the same age for one month. Actually the 4 of us kids are all within 5 years of each other. I have no idea how my parents did it (not making us, but raising us)! Oh, and the craziest thing is she had ALL of us by the time she was my age - and none for me yet.

Isnt it possible that one was just 2 weeks behind the other in growth?
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)

I agree. One could have been measuring a week ahead (totally possible) and the other a week behind (also possible)

Oh, trust me, I grilled her on it. To the point where someone was giving me funny looks because they clearly knew nothing about how anyone gets pregnant to begin with. I asked her that, "are you sure the egg wasn't just implanted late or something?" "are you sure that she ovulated again" and she swears.
I don't know. I would have to ask her doctor I suppose to be sure...I am still very unsure of her story.
yeah i am pretty sure that in TCOYF she says its impossible to ovulate once you are already pg..... the max if you have multiple ovulations in one cycle is 24 hr apart. the one baby was probably just measuring 2 wk under the other......

I know of two women who had multiples with this situation... one had triplets, and the doctor said two were twins and one was conceived like 3 days later. The other lady's twins were conceived two days apart. I don't know them personally so I never got any details.
Re: Irish Twins Story
two of my sisters are 13 months apart - that is close enough imo. two of dh's siblings are 11 months apart.
My MIL and her sister are 10 months apart.
They are 2 of 15 kids! Yikes!
Holy busyvagness!
When I was younger I would think there is no way I would have my kids that close together but now I hope it happens.......well maybe not that close!

I love that Irish Twins Day has been mentioned multiple times in this post :-)
Totally made my day!
