TTC After a Loss

Drs. Office rant!

So I went to the dr today for the 1 millionth time to have some blood work done since I had a second m/c. My dr comes in and says.... we're not going to do anything b/c I think you need to wait until you've had a third m/c. He said they would have a better chance of finding something out after a third one. I don't know about you ladies but two m/c are enough for me. I was so mad that I couldn't say anything to him. So then he tells me that he hopes to see me soon with a positive pg test, but if not then he would see me in Jan. for my yearly check-up and walks out the door! What kind of crap is that... What if they could find something out now that would help me stay pg.. I can get pg but i can't stay pg! I'm so frustrated! :(

Re: Drs. Office rant!

  • This is definitely standard. A lot of the pressure comes from the insuance companies, who won't cover testing without 3 losses in a row. I'm very sorry.

In my case, I am insisting on testing and telling them I will pay myself if insurance won't cover it. My two losses were both later and happened at the same time, so I can't in good conscience put myself through all of that without even trying to get some answers.

    Good luck.

  • I would find a new dr or insist that your current dr do the testing (I find that if you are insistent, they'll do what you want).  I agree with pp that insurance probably plays a role in his decision, but there are ways to work around it.  You shouldn't have to go through that a 3rd time.
  • That's awful. How insensitive of the Dr. He could have at least said it in a more positive manner, AT LEAST!
