Babies: 0 - 3 Months

are you disappointed with the sex of your baby?

some women really hope for one sex over the other (i.e., "I REALLY want a girl!" etc.) ... and when they find out it is the opposite, they are upset.

Most women get over it by the time they meet and get to know their LO.

How about you? Are you still disappointed? Were you ever?

And for those who are too chicken to admit it out loud:

Re: are you disappointed with the sex of your baby?

  • I wanted a boy with #2 so I could experience a Son but the second Julia was born I was in love.

    #1 I def wanted a girl.

  • I really had wanted two girls so I was bummed to find out that Dash was another boy. But a few weeks later, I got into the idea and by the time he was born, I couldn't imagine it any other way.

Now I feel really LUCKY to have two boys ... they rock!

  • I love having my girl.  I was really glad I had a girl first because now I don't have to hope for a boy or a girl in the future.  I just wanted at least one girl.  But don't get me wrong, I would have been happy either way.  I just wanted a healthy baby.
  • i really really wanted a boy, but as soon as we found out it was a girl, i was overcome with tears and happiness.  i wouldnt trade dd for anything.
  • I really wanted a girl, but I was never dissappointed with the boys.  I was a fraid I would be, but I didn't need to worry.
  • I did initially want a boy first, because I've always loved the idea of big brothers.  But, I got over it during the pregnancy and couldn't be happier now.  DD is super sweet!

Still peeves me off though because my family values boys more due to culture (Chinese).  My grandma, who repeats herself a lot and probably has early Alzheimer's, kept saying "Oh, a girl?  Well, it's good to have a girl first because she can help with the boys."  I love grams, but WTF right?  Also, my grandpa said he'll give $30k to the first grandchild to give him a great grandson.  Double-WTF right?

  • We waited to find out the sex, truly didn't matter either way to us.  I don't even care so much about #2 I'd love to have a boy so I can have one of each but I'd be just as happy with another girl so DD can have a sister.

This.  We didn't find out beforehand, so when she popped out a girl, I was ecstatic!

  • I was elated when we found out we were having a boy.  I had wanted a boy so badly and so did DH.  We would have been just as happy with a girl, but I will admit I think we would have been disappointed at first.
  • I was disapponted at first to find out that my second was going to be another boy.  We plan on only having two children and were both hoping for a girl.

I got used to the idea fairly quickly although I did have a bit of a breakdown about it the night before we were induced.  However I fell instantly in love with DS #2 the second he was born and now I can't imagine it any other way!

  • i can admit that i was a little disappointed at first about having a boy. we will most likely only have this one baby, and i really wanted a girl. DH also really wanted a girl, since he already has a son from his first marriage. but, obviously i got over it, and i love Liam more than anything. i didn't know it was possible to love someone so much.
  • I really wanted a girl and I got my girl.  I was so happy.

  • I got one of each so I'm glad I don't have to think about having another.  But I am kinda sad because if they were the same sex and being twins I think they'd be closer when they got older.
  • I wanted a girl so I am very happy.  But I know I would have loved a boy too.

  • I was happy with either, but felt like she was a girl most of my pregnancy, so I was really happy to find out I was right.
  • I've always wanted a girl first.  I was my mom's oldest, and I wanted to have a girl first, too.  I think DH was a little disappointed, but now he keeps asking when I want to make a sister for M.  :)  I would love a boy or girl next time, so it'll be fun either way.
  • Dh and I both really wanted a boy, then we were told girl and were both a little dissappointed. Dh was freaked out. lol

Over the next 5 months we really bonded with the idea of a girl, Dh got less freaked by the daughter concept. We were so excited for her to arrive!

THEN two days before going into labor we had a u/s and found out it was a boy! I've never laughed and cried simultaneously before. heh heh. We love our boy and I'm so glad I have my boy "out of the way". I've always wanted to have a son.

  • I REALLY wanted a girl for #1 and I got one. For #2, I didn't really care, and had a son. Now I am really glad we have one of each!
  • The first time I honestly didn't care and was thrilled to have a girl. The second time I wanted a boy, just so I could experience having one of each, but I love both of my girls and am so happy that they are sisters.
