NTR: Black tie wedding - tux question

We have a black tie wedding to go to in a few weeks, so DH needs to rent a tux. The dress that I'm probably wearing is a blue/purple color. Should DH get a tie and cumberbund (spelling??) to match my dress? Or will it look like we're part of the wedding party? Should he just get something that doesn't clash with me? I've never been to a black tie wedding.

I wouldn't worry about matching.. so long as you don't clash

I think as far as renting a tux, I would ask. It could depend on the wedding, even if it is black tie. We're going to a family wedding, black tie, this summer and were told the guys didn't have to rent a tux if they didn't want to. That a nice suit and tie would be fine.
